Up loaded and will be ready to DL very soon at http://www.wargamer.com/gamesdepot/ Operation Market Garden* * Monday, 18 September, 1944* * Scenario Three* * Arnhem Day Two* * Monday, 18 September, 1944 * Eindhoven is being liberated by the 101st Airborne Division. The first radio contact between the Americans and a patrol of the Guards Armoured Division is made at 11.15hrs and they make physical contact in Woensel at about 12.15hrs. In the late afternoon the army arrives in the southern outskirts of Eindhoven.* At about 21.00hrs the British Royal Engineers start building a Bailey bridge over the Wilhelmina Canal in Son* * The Scenario* * With the onset of fog it is already afternoon before reinforcements and supplies arrive. Near Arnhem British para's are advancing to try and reinforce troops at the bridge, but they only get as far as the western edge of the city.* 930 am Arnhem Bridge,The success of Operation Market Garden depends entirely on the British First Airborne Division seizing and holding the bridge at Arnhem. The presence of SS troops came as a surprise and by the evening of the 17th, only the reinforced 2nd Battalion/1st Parachute Landing Brigade had gotten to the bridge. After intense fighting through the night Colonel Frost's Red Devils could only capture its northern end and the battalion fell back, determined to hold its position until help arrived. With his scouting mission between Arnhem and Nijmegen complete, Captain Grabner turned his reconnaissance battalion north towards Arnhem to rejoin the 9th SS Panzer Division. He had not seen any enemy activity when he crossed the bridge the night before. However, from radio reports he knew that some British troops were holding the northern approaches. Against lightly armed paratroopers he planned to quickly smash through the British defenders and secure the bridge.* * Scenarios By* M4 Jess* Playtest* Don "Aberdeen" Stumpf Operation Market Garden* * Tuesday, 19 September, 1944* * Scenario 4* * Veghal* * By 6.15hrs the 33 meters-long Bailey bridge built over the Wilhelmina Canal in Son is finished and the army can continue its advance.* * Market Garden is now already 24 hours behind schedule.* * Taylor's 501st Regiment has taken the key bridges near Veghel and Lord Wrottsley has just made contact with the Americans with a squadron of the Household Cavalry and a few tanks from the Grenadier Guards. Push on to make the link-up. Then open the road north to Uden so the division can consolidate for the drive on Nijmegen. Visibility is low, and word is that the Germans are building up armor to the west, so be ready for a tough fight.* * Scenarios By* M4 Jess* Playtest* Don "Aberdeen" Stumpf
