I think one of the greatest things about SPWAW's OOB's being open to modification and easily modified (heck, having the editting tools with the distribution!) is that it allows the producer to essentially let the fans do research and tests. That is, the official development team may have been split on an issue, or kinda' figured that something wouldn't quite work out well, but didn't have time to test it. Well, the players can themselves look into these things. Some paths the dev-team didn't go down can be gone down. Some things that take a good long-term playing can be researched... eg, the 88mm FlaK being able to fire on the move. Or another example being machineguns--some people think they should be able to fire on the move, others think they oughtn't. Well, H2H has allowed us to test this on a wide scale. Now that this broad-based testing has gone on, 8.0 OOB's have benefitted not just from player input, but essentially from the input of a second development team--one whom you can be assured that the data is compatible with your system. I can't wait 'till 8.0 comes out. My computer blew up, I need to format and reinstall everything, so I don't have my MCSE Tester 8.0's... I dunno what's worse, waiting for 8.0 or having it, then having to wait for it. ;) (I could just grab it from the dev-team archives, but...)
I can email you the MCSE OOB set if you want, since you're part of the team. :)
