If you are changing map to usermade map you are already editing ? ... LOL
Now go to your editor and click 'load scenario'-button. Load that one from where you want map to be changed. make sure Nationals are on correct places. Lets put German to RHS and Marines on LHS.
(This really needs custom map as it makes jungle map despite of selected 'random summer map', - which is almost correct as Marines didn't get many changes to conquer Europe.)
Click on the 'load map' -button. Pick it up. Now get in to map editor and look what does say that 'Marines are on the --side of the map'-button, with blue and green arrows. If it says that Marines are on the RHS then you'll have to click this button to get them at left side. If it says left side then its ok. Eitherway make Marines to left side.
Now search reinforcement- and retreat- flags for Marines. They should be at left side. If not you'll have to deploy them by hitting and cliking the map: '0' (zero) for Marine retreat; 2,3,4,5 for reinforcements. Same for German: 1 for retreat 6,7,8,9, for reinforcements. Now we got them onboard.
To avoid problems at deploy-phase get to deploy-screen and set Marines deploy-line as well Germans line also. They propably are wrong by default.
Save scenario. Load it again and do your purchase for both sides. Get to deploy screen and look at the retreat/reinforcement flags. If they have gone to wrong sides again, go to map-edit screen and deploy flags again. After these are in right sides you can do deployment.
And German is said to be as player 1 in HQ-menu, right ? Don't bother yourself with it, they will fight against Marines that are also set as player ones troops. If it does get you suspicios get to the Germans deploy-screen. You have A0 GeHQ selected. Click 'F2' button to switch the side. It now is player 2. Hit 'G'-key to get next formation, hit 'F2' and proceed further 'till you are back to Ge HQ. ( Offboard units need to be changed by finding them with 'N'-key and hitting 'F2'. )
Save it and test it.
This is how scenario is built.
Now we get into generated enemies :
[Marines left (human player), German right (AI).]
Create generated battle. 'Map as designed' turned on. Load map, purchase and deploy. Now reinforcement and retreat flags are at the wrong sides ? ( Most likely so... LOL ...This is not a conventional bug, its hardcoded errata based on old engine. ) Now we'll do your battle: After you have deployed your troops (AI does it too), save game. Lets say in slot 17. Exit battle and click yourself out to next screen. 'Alt-Tab' to desktop. Go to games root directory and from there to 'Chlanda' -folder. Execute program named 'WawEd'. Go to 'File'-menu/ 'Locate OOB files' and locate them from games root by selecting OOB82. Now you'll load saved game; (file/load Waw scen-save file. Go to root/save-folder and click save017 from list. When you see your Marines data appearing in here you'll have to save this as a scenario. Get to file/ save Waw scen-save file and search 'scen'-folder. Rename save017 to scen017 and save it. Now 'Alt-Tab' back to game (or restart it) and get to scenario-editor. Load this scen017. It might not have a name; it shows as a empty slot, -load it. Go to map edit-screen and set reinforcement and retreat flags for both as told above. (Ok, this is close to cheat as you may see enemy positions, but you'll learn quickly to ignore information This is why its nice to have someone to deploy AIs force and set objects and waypoints for them.) Now save scenario to same slot, -name it to recognise it later. Go out from editor and 'Alt-Tab' to previous WAWEd-program. Load this new scenario in it and save it to 'save'-folder. (In campaigns to same slot as it was, in single battle no matter where.) Remember to change scen017 to save017. (Its a *.dat file, keep it all the way as *.dat -file. If you erase/don't write back this .dat it may corrupt your folder when you'll start spwaw next time. It crashes to desktop so long that it takes to delete/rename it back to '.dat'.)
Close other programs and start your generated battle. Flags are now in correct places.
((( This reinforcement/retreat -flag thing was under work while updating from 4.5 to 5th version, but map-file don't have enough room for more data to be saved with it. So you can't do map and re-set flags and save map, and then load it to generated battle; it will be wrong sided... Not funny at all ? Nope, but atleast we can get 'shortcuts' to it... )))
And if someone knows easier/shorter way to do this speak up If you'll change a map with Freds great editor it messes up deployment and VOs. So you'll have to deploy Both sides again...
This procedure takes two minutes between saving the game first time and getting to play it.
