Has anybody noticed some of the goofy units in this game? Im speaking of vehicles of the Early War period and some of the vehicles that were only used for trainning. They take up precious slots that could be used for other vehicles/units that were more common. The specific ones Im speaking of are in the Anzac and US OOB's.

Anzac; The Sentinel tank series, Sentinal I, 60+ built, this could be kept as a "what if" vehicle and was the only vehicle of the series to be built in any quantity. They were used only for training.
The most silly vehicle of the series that is in the game is the Sentinel Twin. Neet vehicle, but it was only a "test bed" to see if the suspention and other components of this tank could stand up to the recoil of the 17 pounder. You see two 25 pounder guns, when fired at once, had just 20% more recoil than the 17 pounder.
All the rest of the series were built in one's and two's including the 17 pounder version which was only built after the war was over because of the shortage of 17 pounder guns, and then again only one or two were built.

US OOB; The FT-17's in the U.S. arsenal were never intended for and would never in any any situation you can think of, be used in combat. They were quite beat up by the early 30's and could barly be relied upon for training exersises. The Mae West, and Combat Car are also questionable items but they are so cute that I would hate to see them go.

Any how, I'm not trying to start a firestorm, just looking for others thoughts on this matter.

I think its cool, for 'what if' scenarios, to leave them in the game. Maybe just plain fiction scenarios, or WW1 scenarios in the case of the US tank. If the OOB's of those countries are too full, then maybe move them to the Norway OOB?

We could use slack space on small OOBs for "what if" holders for many nations....

I hope both of you have my Icon Spreadsheet. Look and see how many different FT-17 Icon's there are. This is another issue though.

I do agree that some of these units could be placed in other "Allied" OOB's. But then what about the plethora of "T" series vehicles that were built by yhe U.S.? Some of these were cool too, but very few saw combat.

I hate to lose any of these units. They have a historical input even when not used. Still if there were units that should be included and weren't, well if they need the space.

I hope not, but then call me nostalgic.

Well they are at a minimum vintage.

Seriouly it is amazing to me that OOB space is at a premium, but.....

never mind.

That is the POINT. Space. Especially for new Icons.

I would not want to hurt the "unified community's feelings"....

sven

p.s. The calliope should be an on-board asset.

harlekwin,

Ok, your right about the Caliope, it probably should be an on board asset.

I'm not much on OOBs details, but could it not be both, much as some artillery pieces?

Yes, no problem there! I'm going to look into this a little deeper. Like I don't have enough on my mind already.
