Are there any good WW-II and modern tactical computer games out there other than SP [ too dated] or CM [ to small scale]?

You may not believe this, but from what I know of SP and heard about CM, you just ruled out the 2 best tactical wargames available. Even as an occasional SP player, I must take exception to the "its-too-dated" remark. Its a project that is still actively being worked on and improved, both game-play wise as well as its OOB's accuracy. Its probably, at this point, the most up-to-date and accurate tactical WWII game available. [This message has been edited by Ed Cogburn (edited October 11, 2000).]

I don't have any time for CM as its too small a scale, is only about NWE and I don't trust the model they've put together.

Ouch, if you said this on the SPWaW forum you'd start a small war. I haven't played it enough to know whether the AI is better, but I saw many discussions in the forum about AI behavior, so it is something they're clearly working on. I gave up on the SPWaW forum because of heavy traffic, it was taking up too much time, so I know nothing recent. You may want to drop in over there and ask about recent AI improvements. What I need is a game that I can program as a simulator , thats to say it must be able to play against its self [ computer Vs Computer]. This is the only way to even the playing field , and this way I can repeat the battle a number of times to get an average result. I need a up to data armor penetration system that I can up date to correct. I need good AI so the troops don't do stupid things. I need arty that doesn't all fall on the same spot each turn. I need to simulate at least battalion Vs Regiment actions. Can CC or SPWAW do this?

If anyone ever finds anything better out there let me know, but it doesn't get any better then this, except with each new patch. Keep up the exceptional work! The only thing dated? is SP1/SP2/SP3/SPWW2/and SPWAW ver>4.x ------------------ Old gamers never die; young ones do.
