I am posting here for now to give you an update on oob Status and release:

We are working on adding LBM and new Icons that many have submitted to us. Also, we are working on adding new scenario design tools for you to use.

We have improved AI purchase picks so that you can enjoy a long campaign, battle game, or campaign generated game verses the computer.

We are working on all the data you have given us regarding 8.1 and are correcting all aspects of oobs you did not like. This takes time as all team members are volunteers and have real lives and jobs that make demands as they do to everyone else. We are not paid by matrix for this work. We do this because we love the SPwaw game and see need for improvements. I want to remind you all that this is only a game and it is free.

We are in the final stages of this project. I hope that it will soon be released in about 3 to 4 weeks but this depends on the team’s real life commitments.

-------------------------------------------------

Now, on to another topic: As soon as I post this several individuals will bombard this post with a vehement hatred and attempt to spam this thread. I addressed this in the 8.0 OOb corrections thread but if you missed it let me state it again:

It was the purpose of the 8.0 corrects/suggestions forum thread to help the oob team fix the oobs and have, you, in the gaming community help refine these for their upcoming release.

Instead, a few individuals have begun to bombard the Forums with unwarranted rhetoric. Any response we give is immediately met with hostile actions.

So we have been silent. Is it any wonder??

Several Persons have emailed me regarding that they no longer can respond to the forums here at matrix due to the abuse they receive as well have their responses from a select few spam every thread they open no matter the topic. This has caused several to stop reading the forums they once loved to discourse on.

So my answer to why the oob team has been silent is simple: Is it any wonder in this environment ???

I apologize to the many gamers for the rancor you have received and read from these forums. Many of you have read these Forums for many years once read with joy but are turning away in disgust at the manner in which the forums have become and I again apologize for this.

Several of you will respond with a vehement hatred and falsely accuse matrix of violating some concept of free speech but when many people express their dismay at no longer being able to write a thread or add to a forum's thread - what about that person's free speech that is being stopped by a few who are determined to sow discord and thus stop true free speech altogether? What should be done?

Bryan, thank you for the update. The team is to be congratulated for its efforts to improve the SPWaW gaming experience. You guys are underappreciated, but it just goes with the thankless task you have undertaken.
Now, as for the state of the forums--strong measures are being taken to clean up the forums and Dave Heath and I will crack down on the spamming and trolling that has lately polluted this area. Members who support this game and the efforts to improve it will be welcome to offer their suggestions and comments.

Yo All,
Of course the work on the OOB's should be commended. But before I go on my rant, quick question: Will Resisti's work(also posted under heading 8.2) be included in any future "true update" patch? I have two more cd's for charity to mail out this week and I am waiting to hear on inclusion of Resisti's great work. Thank you.
And to be honest, I don't play H2H OOB's(no slight to creator) or any other variants as I have faith in Bryan's numbers and more importantly, I feel the need for a standard, especially for PBEM.I don't want 4 versions of SPWAW on my HD!!! TO nitpick etc. over penetration values I think is absurd as everyone has a different source(from George Forty to Nafziger, to war memoirs). As I understand it, Bryan does most of the work with a well-educated crew...he doesn't just arbitrarily decide. He asks for public input but at some point he has to draw the line or nothing would get done. What's the old saying about a committee designing a horse?
BUT....getting back to my "standard" point, Goblin posted somewhere that the 8.2 OOB's would change many of the scenarios put out in 8.0. Would this also negatively effect poor Resisti's hours upon hours of work?
PLEASE clarify. I really think any OOB improvement deemed necessary by the majority is good to correct blatant errors or include new toys, but constantly revising old scenarios is a pain in the you know what, not to mention the fact that ongoing tournament(yea, I advanced!) and PBEM games are also negatively effected. Please assure some attention is paid to "backward compatibility". Thank you.
Please respond.
Thank you.

Hi Steeler!

Thanks for supporting my work :)

Yes, my part of work should be included in the coming patch, unless the Powers That Be decide differently (don't think so, though).
As for new oobs spoiling my work: well, of course the best would have been to wait for the final-final oobs to be ready and only then to start checking all the scenarios, but this would have add several additional weeks of delay to the release.
The OOB Team, was aware about my work, and I think they know that any weapons' slot swapping could have backward effects, so I'm confident my work won't be affected...well, at least my scenarios' texts revision work, should be safe, under this respect ROFL

I also applaud the work done by the oob team. And here's a quick question. Will 8.2 affect megas or the 20-30 scenarios I've downloaded since ver8 came out?
