Paul - YOur idea to move the general discussion to the above is fine, however access it impossible. No matter what I do, I get the following: Invalid argument reading C:/WebSites/MatrixGames/cgi-bin/Members/00000019.cgi (called by C:/WebSites/MatrixGames/cgi-bin/ubb_lib_files.cgi, 849) at C:/WebSites/MatrixGames/cgi-bin/ubb_lib_files.cgi line 655.
Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!
So, I am informing the admin, if it is the wrong way to do it - per usual for myself - then sorry about that. Bing

Whose backdoor, if you don't mind me asking. and how do we get to that backdoor? You should pardon the expression. Bing

If you haven't deleted it, use your Internet history links.

Looks like Paul got called up with the other 35,000 reserves. I regularly clean out all Internet Temp files and history entries, by way of the DOS deltree command, from the command line of course. Haven't been to the overall forum for several days, so the history link isn't there. What's the problem, if it isn't too much to ask? Bing

There is a "Back door" link on the Help Desk FAQ and over on the MilitaryGamerOnline forum. Use the drop down box on the bottom right of the page to access otehr forums. We hope to have the main forum page back up soon.

Nothing works, in fact my standard password doesn't even get me into the Help Desk. This is the only message forum I can find that refuses to stay on the air. If Matrix hopes for commercial success, how will it get there if it continually shuts out its potential customers? Not worth the hassle. There are plenty of other forums that don't have this problem. Occasionally, sure, that can and does happen to every forum I have ever been around. With Matrix it is an ongoing affair. If anyone ever fixes the forums, maybe I'll come back. Bing

While I have not been called up...yet...we are obviously much occupied with real world events right now. The forums are being used by a lot of people, only a couple of them are down right now. If you can't get to ANY of them using the drop down list at the bottom of the page then the problem is on your end. Folks are using the help desk, Have you registered with the help desk? Its a seperate piece of software form the forums or the store and you have to tell it a user name and password. David Heath lives in New York, his wife is one of NYPD's Finest, I'm in the Naval Reserve and work for DoN as a civilian, many of our virtual team are caught up in the events of the day. Please excuse us if the fact that you may have to hunt a lilttle to get to the forums here is a little low on our priority list right now...there will undoubtedly be further minor inconveniences in the weeks and months ahead. Learn to live them.

Now why would you hide the spinner control way down there at the bottom, so that with my usual lack of perspective I could miss it altogether? The bottom spinner works just fine. Problem solved, sorry for causing a fuss. I know a little of what is going on. My son and his family live four blocks from what used to be WTC (they survived just fine, thank God). We're all in this now, nothing like this has happened to my country since Pearl Harbor. I remember that particular day of infamy, I remember what it meant to all of us, no matter how small the town in Michigan was. The remarkable aspect about growing up during WW2, which truly can't be understood unless one had lived through it, is that everyone - I do mean everyone - was devoted to the cause of defeating the Germans and more importantly the Japanese. Nobody disagreed, nobody advised caution, it was kill or be killed, it was that simple. I had not seen anything like that, not since the war days, not until a few days ago. American flags line the main street of the small community where I now live, most people are flying their personal flags. Maybe it is different in the cities, though I rather think not. Best of luck, Paul, I am sure you will let us know if and when you get the call. Been a lot of prayer lately, there will be a lot more until this new war is settled. Bing

Thank you for your understanding, Bing. And my apologies for being blunt. Several folks have been rather critical lately of lack of "customer service" or being "told" not "asked" to do things in a certain way. I think a little "expectation adjustment" needs to be made by some people (not you Bing...) especially now in the wake of what is going on. Matrix is "virtual" group of almost exclusively part time contributors who have day jobs and do this in their spare time, with only modest expectations for eventual compensation. The same people who man "cusotmer service" are also those working on games, so if we "tell" you to follow certain simple instructions its not becasue we are on some sort of power trip, but because its the only way we can get things down. People have complained that the forum, the help desk and the store are not fully integrated and that paswords on one do not automatically work on the others. Well we can't afford 6 figure custon Oracle "integrated e-commerce solutions" so we have to make do with what we can cobble together off teh shelf. We have been the target of several denial of service campaigns and other hack attacks that so far we have been able to fend off. If that causes us to be "down" a bit more often then other outlets, it is our problem only in that it takes a certain measure of success to create enemies. While our nation gears for war, many of us will have that "spare time" we spent here at Matrix evaporate. Our already "fluid" schedule has been thrown a few curves and we don't know what sort of disruption the next weeks and months. But to be blunt, (and this is not aimed at you Bing) if as some have threatened, you intend to "abandon Matrix" because of occasional board disruptions as we have had, or because we "tell" you to follow simple instructions to simplify and speed customer service, or for having the audacity to charge for the games we make, then don't let the door hit your bee-hind on the way out... I can understand how you feel, Paul. For myself - and I'm reasonably sure others - blowing off is the aftermath of a trying week. Tuesday was simply the worst day of my life, not knowing if my family was alive, hoping for the best, fearing the worst - God was good to us. Everyone came through intact, including the cat. This has been an unprecedented emotional trip, one which I hope we never have to repeat. If I have been unduly critical I hope it is understood within the framework of the events of the last few days. Best from here, Bing
