I don't know if this is a dumb question.. If I want to provide aircover for my other TF's do I have to have my carriers in the same hex? Haven't found another way..

if you set fighters in range on LRCAP, you can assign them the target of your TF. Just keep in mind that the CAP effectiveness degrades rapidly the further away from the fighter base or CV

If I put fighters on LRCAP and select a TF to protect, and the CTF gets attacked, how does that affect the quantity of fighters over my CTF? I figure it will be a percentage of the total number of fighters on LRCAP, minus some for being over the lets say the transport group I'm protecting?

Thoughts? I always have the fear that I have two LRCAP groups flying cover over a TF and then get attached by LBA or other CV group, so I'm reluctant to place the CTF fighters on LRCAP over the other TF's.

Fighters on LRCAP over a TF in another hex won't protect your carriers. You can set your carriers to follow the TF and, assuming that TF is slower, the carriers will stay in the same hex. In this case regular CAP will protect both.

However, when the transport TF get's to it's base, protect with either fighters from the base, or have the carriers stay a hex or two away and use LRCAP. If the carriers are in the base hex their sortie rate is halved.

That makes sense Bilbow. Follow the TF until reaches the DH, and then protect with LBA or standoff and send maybe only one sqd of FTG"S to protect other TF. Leave the rest for CAP or Escort. Just in case. I thought that would be the case. Thanks.
