Well here i was again just minding my own business when suddenly i was ATTACKED!! . Its time to kick bass and chew bubblegum.......and i'm all outta bubblegum

Conditions/House rules

1.) Grand campaign 12/7 start
2) Historical first turn
3) IJN sub doctorine off
4) EVIL option on
5) 2-day turns
6) dec 7 suprise on

We've decided to have a go at 2day turns. obviously the pace wont be as fast but it will allow a bit more flexibility in terms of reaction and micromanagement. We wanted to start at 5/42 since war's start has been done so much of late, however the midwar scenerios are not complete enough for us to get a good game out of it

so here we go

Well unfortunately the May 1, 1942 scenario is not quite ready to test. So we decided to go back to the Grand Campaign… One more time… This time 2 day turns and a historical turn 1 start, this will allow both of us a little more control while keeping the excitement and unpredictability of multi day turns.

Nikademus will continue with his Allied Fan Boy ranting and lunatic ravings that he calls commentary and I will add well thought out reasoned comments from the Japanese side of things from time to time. We will give you our ideas on the flow of a 2 day game verses a 3 day game after we get into this a bit. Actually this should be more interesting as we both learned allot from mistakes we made in round 1, so I would expect a tougher and better contest. This build has all the bells and whistles, including the new carrier ordnance rules and cool new graphics.

I am trying a different strategy this time and I will not be as hyper aggressive, I have come up with a more systematic strategy that hopefully will keep Nik off guard and guessing.

Away we go…

Its in all the papers back home......valient Brit crew torpedoes and sinks Japanese battleship! Unequivilent proof that Japanese forces suk!!!!!

I am trying a different strategy this time and I will not be as hyper aggressive, I have come up with a more systematic strategy that hopefully will keep Nik off guard and guessing.

I'm trying a new strategy as well. So far it involves beer, and for mornings, a 5 minute or less turn all the while trying to stuff a McD's breakfest burrito down at the same time.

Apparantly its working so far given my successful torpedoings

Seems the Allies got themselves a new propaganda spokesperson,
In the finest traditions of all those who came before… We now add to the list

The Seattle Prattle----- Nikademus

I like your new plan, However I am worried about that "trying to stuff a McD's breakfest burrito down" thing,
there are laws against that in at least 27 states and the District of Columbia

Well, the Allied submarines are doing remarkable things -- but I don't see Haruna going down from a single torpedo. Is there an intel report that we don't know about?

Nah... No super subs...
Just some very wishful thinking on Nik's part, the dinky little torpedo from the Vildebeest just dented the fender and Haruna just kept on going. CA Atago took 2 torpedoes from a Dutch sub lots of flooding but no real system damage 20%, she made port and will survive.

To date I have lost 1 sub, but it took out one of Nik's priceless sub tenders first and one transport.

He has lost 2 battleships, 3 destroyers, 2 subs (4 more reported damaged) I am getting good at ASW, 1 AS 1 AV, and I just located near Celebes his cargo ships retiring from the Philippines and started attacking them and shot up a transport convoy attempting to withdraw troops (Avaition support assets if I guess right) from Malaya.

Like I said I do like his new plan...

PM edition of the SEATTLE PRATTLE:

dateline: Philippines.

Valorous and sexy US troops located in Philippines repel Invaders.......break for lunch.

Japanese battleship sunk by old Bi-plane......proof positive that everything they have is old obsolete junk with a limited power-train warrenty.

Strange new monoplane fighter shot down over Philippines......is revealed to have faulty propellor that doesn't bite the air as good as our Propellors. Go figure!

Score to date in one week's worth of fighting

2 Japanese battleships.
3 heavy cruisers.
200 enemy bombers
300000 enemy troops.

US casualties are light. 2 battleships were damaged but repairable after dastardly sneak attack. One can easily see their masts from reporter's locaiton. Enemy bombers took out a malt shop and slightly damaged a sno-cone making factory

In Manila harbor an sailor fishing off a pier reported a plane dropping "a couple of bombs" in the vacinity of the tug boat 'Otis' no damage was suffered by the Tug though. they did make a nice splash though.

In Singapore harbor, the annual Malayan Crickett Fest was temporarily interupted by air raid sirens. Players were forced to suspend play to take the time to jump into their Buffalos and shoot down quote "oodles" of obsolete enemy planes. After repelling the attack, the crickett match was resumed.

Burma:

nuttin goin on here....all is well.

I had better surrender right away...

I underestimated the Allies industrial might... That's the 37th snow cone factory I blew up this week...

There building them faster than i can blow them up... I can't compete with that...

Good start, although we have a yank reporter who can't spell Cricket. besides, in many areas of the universe, cricket is offensive and is only played in incredibly poor taste (gotta love the Guide).

Let's not push the whole propellor comment. We know where that discussion ended up ("Why haven't the allies won yet? It is almonst 1942 for God's sake!")!

As for you Pry, I'm hoping to see some extremely unhistorical and unprecedented gameplay that will allow Japan to force a US surrender before 1943 . . . no pressure!

Anyhow - back to lurk mode for me. Biding my time to start stabbing people in the back, or before Raver and I unleash our own big AAR of the now excellently working build of WITP. Beta very soon methinks.*

*Comment made by any and all testers about any alpha build X.x is to be no way taken as official and/or affiliated with Matrix Games(tm). Comment may contain bullshit, please read the label before consuming*.

You will notice I highlighted one section in red, The reason for that is that my carrier that had been shooting up Nik's transports near Celebes, ran out of "Sortie Points" and could only launch 2 aircraft on the last mission. Needless to say his remaining ships will escape and find shelter in Darwin because I have to return to Palau to rearm... No you can not replenish these points at sea so I have to return to port to load back up. Granted this was a CVL without a whole lot of Sortie Points but they have definitly put a throttle on how long a carrier can operate with out returning to port.

Oh, I wouldn't worry -- the sno-cone factories are being destroyed in Singapore. (I didn't know the Brits were partial to them: what happened to gin and tonics?) As for Corsairs, I doubt the game will last that long. If it does, the new builds will have slowed considerably!

Well ole Nik had a rather bad day at the office, his entire TF got itself sunk at Rabaul, I think he was trying to evacuate his garrison and had just arrived at the same time as my invasion force. The South Sea Brigade is ashore with out loss and Rabaul will soon fall.

It has been very quite for about 2 weeks now but that will soon change. I have been busy relocating a whole bunch of my forces, supplies and fuel to forward bases that will act as jump off points and I am now ready to unleash the main part of my offensive. It should prove not to be a very Merry Christmas season in the Pacific for the Allies.

My recon shows that Nik has withdrawn nearly all his forces in Malaya to Singapore, and also has abandoned Rangoon and looks to have fallen back and chosen Mandalay to make his stand in Burma. He has already started bombing my airfield at Rahaeng, guess he learned a few things from the last game.

There were a few new LCU combat tweaks in this build and the Chinese are no longer a pushover, I have to think about my strategy in China it is now much more costly.

What the heck is going on at Yenen? The Japanese have a 3:1 edge, there's no fortifications worth speaking of, and they're still losing more than the other side with almost every attack. Is there a highly experienced unit defending there?
