I know the devs are probably up to their ears with suggestions and wish lists at this point but I'll add this one anyway. Could we get a list of Aircraft Destroyed and Ships Sunk upon capturing an enemy Airfield/Port?

I love seeing the havoc taking an enemy base has caused and it's also something my troops should be able to verify rather easily!

you can see the # of aircraft destroyed in the intel screen. They'll be listed as 'destroyed on ground'

if ships are scuttled in port you'll get ingame announcement

If memory serves, the ships also show up in the Ships Sunk list with a damage type Unknown.

I encountered a bug when playing UV and posted it there, but perhaps one of the testers should check that it is not occuring in WITP. When I captured Rabaul there were a half dozen badly damaged Japanese ships that were in port and unable to escape. There was no listing of ships sunk anywhere and no change in points to suggest FOW. I went to head-to-head mode and lo and behold, all the damaged ships had been repaired and returned to the ship pool in Japan and were listed as available. In my case they were only DDs and PCs but it would be really aggravating to have the enemy get a brand new BB or CV when you had thought you'd captured a hulk.

Not a bug in UV, ships in port get sent home

They will show up in xxx turns again at Truk or Noumea.

I just had an instance in UV where I captured Shortlands Island w/BB Kongo in port with heavy damage. I then checked the sunk list - no listing......I also went and checked from the Japanese side (head to head) & it was not listed on the sunk list there or on the available ship list.....its like it just disappeared.....

Is there a small chance that the ships will escape when the port is captured or are they automaticly scuttled. You know the old sailing out the harbor entrence just as the enemy troops spill out onto the docks.

Another request I'd make regarding the combat reports is to have them date-stamped like the Combat replays and the saved turns are. That way you can save them as-is in a folder containing your PBEM match with someone without having to take the time to rename each one.

There is a chance they can get away.

Yes, generally they will attempt to flee the port only to get nailed by Bettys and Nells, it's quite sad to watch.

Look at Nik vs Pry thread and you can see it in action.

Yes, I realise I can look on the intel screen but I won't know what types of aircraft I destroyed and it's a lot more convenient to have all the battle results in one spot. Another problem with this work around, is that if two ports/airfields are taken on the same turn you won't be able to differentiate which base they were destroyed at.

This isn't a huge problem but would be a very nice enhancement and has been on my wish list while playing UV.

Thanks! That's exactly what I had imagined (or close enough! ;) ) For aircraft something like the following would be great!

23 X A6M3 Zero destroyed on the field at Lunga!

My one year old son sits on my lap when I play UV. He loves the the Combat animations. Will WITP have these like UV?

Just wanted to bump this one up and see if there were any takers.

True but at least you can differentiate the airframe types....in WitP you can click aircraft losses and it will list each specific plane type for # lost on that day and in total, and how they were destroyed.....so if Rabaul is taken and 60 aircraft are listed as destroyed, the aircraft losses screen would display the indiv types as (for example) 30 A6M and 30 G4M destroyed on the ground.

Believe the aircraft destroyed on base capture/combat report is on da list
