COMPUTER: Celeron 1.8, FICA MB, SIS chip, 256 Ram, GE Force Ultra 64mb, Win98SE, Avance
AC97 audio-onboard
Problem: SPWAW8 installs ok but gives page fault error when starting, followed by error that
states: operation cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. . .
I have tried Quick start and Mech.exe but same error appears. I suspected a registry problem,
so I tried installing the game and then installing a reg back-up made before the game was
installed. This allowed me to get in the game and play, but when I quit the game and later
tried to open it the same error returned. Any ideas?
By the way, I have SPWW2 installed and it works fine-I also tried SPWAW7, which I have running
just fine on a much older machine, and I got the same error. What am I missing here?

Are you using spybot search&destroy? It can 'immunize' parts of your system, this prevents proper program installation.
If you have spybot, run it and undo the immunization. Also you could type this error message into Google for additional information.

Just out of curiosity, how do you perform a reg backup? I'm familiar with standard backups and drive imaging, but is there a way to specifically backup and later restore my registry?

I'm not using a spybot, so that is out. I wonder if the drivers for the on chip sound or the video might have something to do with it?
Win98 makes back-ups of registry on it"s own, but you can also go to
programs-accessories-system tools-system info and in sys info
window hit tool button and find registry checker to create back-up.
To restore a reg back-up, go to dos prompt-actual dos not a window-
type scanreg/restore and choose the dated reg back-up you want, I
think there's three available. I don't know how it's done in XP.
