After I draw the first battle ( dont laugh too loud, just try to succeed the first one with only 5 M4 and no motorised transport of anykind for your inf ( just 8 jeep I planned to upgrade to HT... ).
SO I draw the first battle and I am now set to defend the beach , something so far I seems quite successfull. My question is : how did I use the exit hex, and especially the difference between Land unit and Ship exit hex ???

I've never seen the draw battle in Preparing or Long Long Road, so I can't comment on it. But, here's how you use a victory exit hex. In your turn move units that you want to exit onto the hex. Nothing will happen then - if they do leave then you're on a retreat hex, not a victory exit one. At the end of your turn, I think after auto rallies - maybe before, the units will leave the map and you'll see messages like: Infantry squad exits map for XX points. Alex

I don't see why you had the draw with m4 and inf, I pulled a decisive with m8 armored cars, command cars and horse cavalry. So I wouldn't know what the differance is.
thanks, John.

Hi! The ship exit hex can be reached with a ship, while the land exit can't be reached with a ship. You have ??? transport ships available (it's some time ago that I played it) and the transport capacity of the ships is not large enough to evacuate all of your troops at once.
Load the ships with your land forces and order the ship to the land exit hex. While the Ship will be unable to reach the land exit hex, it will unload the troops onto the land exit hex so that they will exit at the end of the turn.
Repeat this as often as you can, then (in the last turn or so) send the ships to the ship exit hex so that you will get the victory points for exiting the ships. Hope this helps,

hum actually the all the hex are on the sea even the land unit hex exit, that what make me wonder... How I can lose with 5 sherman against 10 Somua, 5 PIIIm and 8 french recon, with NO OTHER AT capability ? simple, bad luck, french stuka and engeneer, and first time I played the scenario. Also the fact that a single german bomber wipe out an entire of my flank, that mean 4 squad and 2MG ( that wasn't stacked together ). I recognize I should have buy stronger core and less upgradable unit, and making a 3 pronged attack on an unknow scenario isn't very clever too. If I didn't have had some very bad luck the last 2 turn I should have expect a marginal, but I lost 3 VH the last turn to french tank I cannot destroy anymore...

Can someone check exit-hexes value? If they are more than 10 points, they may cause a problem: All units left onboard are counted losses... (their value goes to AI ) Ivan; allways buy AT-gun section... even cheapest can cause alot harm... mosh

Yes, but the land unit exit hex(es) is(are) in shallow water, so that the ships can't reach it(them). The idea is that you have to use your ships to evacuate the troops to the land exit hexes..... Regards,
Roland

AAARGGG, ok I found how to use the exit hex. But now my forces is set to defend the last hex and evacuate by southern doxk I just notice that ... YOU CANT EXIT FROM THE SOUTH DOCK, he is in shallow water so you cant board the transport from it I am unsure it was a designed trick , but if it was perhaps it SHOULD be mentionned in the notes , cause it isn't evident at all to notice this...

You move your men in a ship as close as you can to an infantry-land exit hex. They move in shallow water. They will unload. Then you can move them into that hex. The ship exit hex is only to be used once you have removed any land units to safety. That way you can conceivably get all units off the map and get extra points without being penalized for units left at game's end. Wild BIll

OK Will Bill I get the idea for the exit hex. But why in the heck cant I use the Southern Dock to exit my troups ????
Is it intentionnal ? or just a mistake not seen because the scenario wasn't commonly played ?

Actually, that particular scenario (and that whole campaign) has some serious problems. I've reworked them all and, pending WB's approval, will be posting them. In this scenario, the problem is that the dock isn't long enough and the LCU's can't get close enough to load.
