You cant have missed the fact also, that Matrix has also had an slow increase in forum sections as well as an increased dedication to more and more involvement with acquiring connections with other software companies. If those "vets" are part of Matrix staff, then I guess they have a lot to do lately is my assumption.

Old vets never fade away, they just smell that way... from spending so many hours playing the game that they forget to shower.

My suspicion is that folks are tapering off their play, due to the impending release of v7.xx in a couple weeks, and thereby reducing their time spent on the forums. I've noticed this before regarding other version releases.
Also, posters who are military "vets" (quite a few, worldwide)are no doubt preoccupied with other, pressing, issues right now...

Hey, Huffy, I've been checking in every day, but not posting so much lately. Ever since RGW came out, I've been busy playing that & posting over at Wargamer. I'm glad, though, that a another wave of the "new breed" has been taking up the slack for us older guys. BTW, the Matrix Convention isn't dead--it's just on hold for the moment. A definite yea or nay won't be necessary till the end of the year, so you guys keep it in mind if you still want to do it.

I’m not sure who all the vets are, but everyone is a tad bit busy now days for sure? I still try to browse the forum, but lately I’ve not been too encouraged to write. I think we should blame the slow down on WB for even thinking that he can retire! I’m also waiting for 7.x. In fact when I try to play MC1 I just get too frustrated with the known issues, so it seems that lately my only spare time is now spent massaging MGD files. Lets all crawl out of our foxholes and get back to business as usual as it was before 9/11.

In the event something tragic occurs, and to ensure continuity of command, the Vets have been moved to a secure location.

I think we just got used to the heavy volume of posts that started around the time they first announced MCNA & released version five.
With all the changes/patches/upgrades there was a steady stream of questions and comments; it'll pick up again when v.7 is released. And when CL comes out...

Tankhead, Bonzo, CptJack ... having vacation ? Without knowing what is 'Vet but surely feeling like one after one year on the forum/game I understand if someone jumps offline sometimes... but most of the older members are still playing, have a meeting engagement in the mailboxes... Some 20-30 of the guys have been doing MCs, some even 3 in the row... Soon recruits look like I do... mosh

OK vets, drop your ***** and grab you socks, let's do a roll call while we're waiting for ver 7. Who's the "vet-est" of the vets? Somebody wake Larry Holt, he's #33. Anybody lower than him? Tommy #488

Tommy: The current number assignments are meaningless. Think of it this way: If tomorrow another new registration was established, and you were member 10 and I was member 35, would that prove that you were around here longer than I? Well that's the situation with the current numbering. A good deal of us, Larry and I both, preceded the current registration. Even the number of posts can be deceptive, because in my case I had my old logonid was lost because I misunderstood how to use the what was then new registration, which required an email address, unlike before, so when I used the old account name, the password to that account was generated beyond my knowledge and sent to the none@none account that I specified. There is a member here called either 'Charles22' or 'Charles 22', but he's never posted a lick beyond when this forum changed registration methods, because that was my old account.

Alright, then, how about a definition of vet in SPWaW terms? I know some of you guys were here while the game was still in utero. I came aboard on ver 2.1 that was on the now defunct EZ Gamer CD I bought (and have since given away). ( BTW, when the guy installed it on his brand-spanking new PC, it amazed me how far the game has come since then.) Considering we're almost to ver 7.0, I'll consider myself a vet. How would YOU define an SPWaW vet? Huffy, you started this, so, what's YOUR definition?

ok..ok...your right , I started this post. When I had gotten to get back into the forum a couple weeks ago...it seemed that alot of the familiar names that had always been posting were not to be seen.It just looked like the old "vets" of the developing and evolution of SPWAW were not around. Now with all these replies....I see everyone is still around, along with some new friends...thank you.
Take care...

Hello All! My ship (USS Kearsarge LHD-3)just returned from the Med on the 15th. I didn't have the oportunity to post for the last six months, but I did order and receive my copy of the Mega Campaign while I was gone. I've also gotten a few shipmates addicted to SPWAW. Great to be back in the US though. Looking forward to Lost Victories. Fans of SPWAW will always be around.
