I was wondering if any of you play certain kinds of music when playing SPWAW?
In 99% of the times I only play one or more of the following CD's: 1-A burned double CD filled with downloaded soundtracks (Gettysburg, The Thin Red Line, Saving Private Ryan, Back Draft, Crimson Tide, Dances With Wolves, The Rock, Starship Troopers, Platoon, The Perfect Storm, Amazing Grace, Hamburger Hill, Gladiator, etc.).
2- U2 double CD (Live Zooropa Tour).
3- Sarah Mc CLaughlan (spelling?), especially the song "In the arms of the angel".
4- The whole Soundtrack CD's from The Thin Red Line and Gladiator. So, what do you people put in the CD-player (or MP-3 player/MD-player/Cassette/DCC or anything else)??? Regards, Pantherblaster

Depending on the mood, either some swing, or if I'm really pissed off at the enemy, various heavy metal songs!!

Depending on the game and the mood, I usually go for no music at all. However, for the German fans amongst us, I found a number of military tunes using the search feature on WinMX. One of my favorites is the marching song "Erika". Great for an Eastern Front game. Of course, on WinMX you can find the soundtracks for just about every movie you can think of--I got the main themes for "Glory" and "Gettysburg" there. If you want some good war music, or whatever else, that's a good place to start. (Sorry about the plug, it's for historical information only)

All those, and some others too...Theme from Zulu, Memphis Belle, Top Gun, Battle of the Bulge (German Armor Song), Victory at Sea, Air Force One (great sound), Once Before I Die, Battle of Britain, and so on. I have two cassette tapes full of great stuff. Here, I got to go turn it on right now! Wild Bill

The Wagner's music (Valquiria??) which the commander of the heli squadron used on "Appocalipse Now" should give a heroic mood "Vini, vidi, vinci" - Julius Caesar

Since we are talking about music I invite everybody to join the Morpheus community. They have the best mp3 search engine I ever known. I'm part of it and downloaded more than 500 musics so far. Simply great! The next search will be the Ride of the Valkiries Try this adress for the download and subscrition, if it doesn't work please let me know: http://musiccity.streamcastnetworks.com/ "Vini, vidi, vinci" - Julius Caesar

Hi.
I don't play music that often, when i play SPWaW, but when I do, the country I play, migth be a factor. When playing the Soviet Union, the Soviet National Anthem, sung by the Red Army Choir, is nice. It goes great to Stalin Organs. Playing Germany, I have a CD with a lot of German marches, that fits well, even if the marches is actually written pre-WW1. Halstein

Nope. It's "Ride of the Valkyries" alright. Try it at Morpheus. It will work....
Try also "russian marches" with audio selected, discovered two from the red army choir. "Vini, vidi, vinci" - Julius Caesar

The Topgun SOundtrack was actually the first CD I bought, oh yes back in the old days (snip). Back than you actually had to buy the whole freakin CD if you'd liked only one song in particular (the Topgun movie theme, naturally). Regards, Pantherblaster

Metal works for me. Nightwish: Wishmaster (her powerful singing voice suits perfectly for war games) ... I touched Tarja's hand once on a gig btw... *sigh* Manowar: Kings of Metal (You can't beat this bands attitude...) Virgin Steele: House of atreus Acts I and II (These include great variety of both calm and furious songs)

Ride of the Valkyries - right, right. I just realized I mixed that up with Flight of the Bumblebee. WAAAAY different, although both being great musical pieces. I am finding just way too much stuff on Morpheus. It's silly. I can't even download it fast enough. Try German March and Russian March as search items. Should try British March and French March also!!!

If I'm not very much mistaken Manowar is from the US. Therefore Skyclad is the best English band. If you do not agree, listen to the record "Qui Avant-Garde á Chance". Amazing! Not very good backround music though... [ October 25, 2001: Message edited by: Halgary ]

Best background music for (almost) all fronts:Judas Priest (especially "Painkiller" and "Screaming For Vengeance" ) and Halford "Resurrection" and "Live Insurrection" ! And of course, Nightwish and Stratovarius for Winter/Continuation War battles !

We sang that song a lot when we were on a march during the army. Especially: "Landmine has taken my sight \ Taken my speech \ Taken my hearing \ Taken my arms \ Taken my legs..." -part. It was kind of spontaneus. Every time someone shouted: "Left, left, left..." that song just started to echo in our head and it had to come out Ten guys and a couple of women marching on a forest road, singing Metallica... there's something poetic about that.
