In UV even though the replacement for a certain aircraft type is high enough to start upgrading the affected air groups (and put the replaced aircraft back in the pool) the old aircraft type's pool is still receiving new aircraft. If I understand production in WitP properly this only affect the allies.

Example: The B-25D Mitchell upgrades to the B-25J Mitchell but the aircraft replacement pool still receives 20 B-25D Mitchell's a month long after you have any need for them.

Is this the same for WitP?

Good question. I have always thought that the aircraft replacement pool dynamic was the most fooked oop thing about UV. You have production of planes that are never used, you have production of planes that are no longer being used, you have no production of planes that are being used, you have multiple production of planes that appear as only one type.

I, too, hope that WitP cleans this mess up.

Not only that, you get really messed up production rates, ie you get 10 TBD's a month for ever when actually production was stop in like 1939 and only @ 150 were ever built

In the case of the TBD (and other aircraft not in production 7 Dec 41) instead of having X number of replacements showing up in the pool each month, there should be x number placed in the pool at the start with no new aircraft appearing.

I hope this is what is being done in WitP, but this was not done in UV.

From what I've read in the WitP Editor notes posted by Joel Billings there is an available (start) date, (monthly) build rate and a (starting) pool field, but no stop date.

So when historicaly allied production switch from (as an example) the B-25D to the B-25J there appears to be no way to stop producing B-25D's. On one hand with the option of 'do not to upgrade' an air group this means that a player who wants to keep his P-39 Airacobra fighter bombers can do so with out running out replacement aircraft. On the other hand when this happens it should be with obsolete aircraft.

So maybe this is just a problem I have with the aesthetics of the game from the allied side.

Yes, but what difference does it actually make in the game? You really do not use TBDs after the avenger shows up so the continued production of that or any other plane really done not affect game play.

The real question here is can you convert tha TBD production to TBF production (an example), thus stopping the production of obsolete aircraft???

You can't convert USA production. Period. The production numbers do not require the conversion.

Japan which has production converts her factories over to the new aircraft type when the new type comes out of R&D.

OK...

But what about production of aircraft for which there are newer models available?

Would they simply stop producing after certain date?

Example:

In other words, at the moment when Grumman F4F-4 "Wildcat" becomes available would the Grumman F4F-3 "Wildcat" production stop?

Is that correct assumption?

production numbers for the US are probably that high that it doesn't really matter. In UV, when you get 100 Hellcats a month, there are by far enough planes to crush the Japanese. The 40+ Wildcats don't really matter anymore.
A list of production numbers for a few US aircraft would be interesting. Does anyone of the playtesters have the time to post a screenshot??

It's 9 pages worth of screens ... I'm not typing it all in

High point reached of 6674 aircraft a month!

What is the difference between "replacement rate" and "production rate"?

Just a quick note -

The P51B shows as being due in 03/44. Wasn't this baby around from 11/43? Or was this just in Europe?

Hi all,

Thanks a lot !!!

BTW, are all aircraft for Allied side available all the time (i.e. till the end of war) once the availability date is reached?
