Status: offline 		P-47D Are those black and white stripes the D-Day markings? or is that just unit markings, although I thought unit markings were limited to the cowling and tail.

That would make sense looking at the markings on the rudder, but I wonder why they left US insignias, maybe for Friendly/Foe Id?

Where were they based? Did they see any action?

Did not realise Mexican units were active during the war.

They operated in the PI , Arrived in Manilla Bay on 30 April 45 , established at Porac Field, part of Clarke Field, started pre-combat training on 7 May, first combat mission on 4 June , last combat mission in August on targets in Formosa , total combat missions = 42
