Spwaw is coming out with a patch upgrade. Harpoon 2002 just came out with an upgrade that now includes the Pacific. Norm Koger came out of hibernation and is in the process of patching Toaw-cow. All at about the same time. Life is good.

Yeah, even though April was disappointing, May is looking good.

Question:

The data of weaponary in H2H, the performance of the 75mm L/24 was reflected outrange the 50 mm L/42 but in SPWAW 8.0 or previous version it was reflected that 50 mm L/42 is better and outrange 75 mm L/24. Now I am confused which is which.

In term of data, which is actually more historically accurate.

Second question is in H2H the HEAT round was available very early, but according to my knowledge it was actually available only early 1942. So which is true, the H2H version or the SPWAW 8.0 where the IV f model than they received HEAT or hollow round.

The 75mm L24 had a longer range even than the 50mm L60

While the gunsites for the 50mm L60 tank weapon graduated up to 3000 meters, you can see below that the ground mounted gun could not even reach this range.

50mm Pak 38 Max Range = 2650 meters

The sites for the 75mm L24 could be direct layed to 2000 meters but had a site graduated to 6000 meters for indirect fire.

German tank crews manning Pz III's and IV's with the 75mm L24 were told that to get the best performance out of the Hollow charge ammo not to engage enemy armor beyond 600 meters. Beyond that range it often took 3 to 5 rounds to destroy a T-34, while inside this range ammunition usage per kill was reduced to 1 to 3 rounds. This not only was related to the accuracy of the gun but also to the performance of the round. For some reason that others may well know about, this round did not perform at its peak past 600 meters.

On ACOW I thought Norm had released a 1.05 patch which had been binned due to a problem with MG's penetrating armour? ISTR that he then said he didn't have time to fix it as he was too busy on another project. Can you confirm that he is now working on another patch?

Sorry all but not playing SPWaW until 8.2 out (silly me thought it might be out before I finished by campaign

According to this page: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Waffen/sturmgeschutze-R.htm (if my German serves me right) 75mm HEAT rounds were produced only during 1942 and 1943.

He is now working on 1.07. He fixed the MG problem and opened it up on usenet for anybody to suggest more bugs for him to squash. Some were suggested. I don't know when he'll have it done but would guess by the end of the month. (hmmmm, sound familiar? LOL)

Thanks, I got that book too.

Wondering why they dont write another 3 books for American, British and Russian tanks. I got another from them but it was just pictures and simple data. I think the title is tanks of world war 2...
