sorry if this has been covered before.

what are the factors in determining LCU combat- type of assault -bombardment deliberate etc. level of supply i am assuming the heavy guns and armored vehicles +tanks combat vs non-combat troops. is there a higher propensity for japanese soldiers to take casualties over americans on an eqivilant basis or is there a straight formula? ie. all things being equal will combat play out the same regardless of who it is attacking/defending?

thanks,
jc

Everything factors into LCU combat including the annoying fact that Japanese troops do not surrender forcing you to tie up your troops turn after turn killing them.

Factor a lot of time for returning things to Allied ownership because of this.

It seems to be better to not try and cut off Japanese troops, allowing them to retreat and herding them along.

Allies react exactly the opposite, cut 'em off and they surrender.

Different tactics depending on the side you play...

Is there a factor in the combat calculations reflecting the disadvantages of not surrendering? In other words, will allied troops break off an attack, where Japanese troops keep coming until they're wiped out? And will Japanese troops defending against overwhelming odds take massive casualties, while Allied troops break and run, allowing them to fight another day (after being rested and re-supplied)?
