Just finished my first French Campaign and won reasonably easily.

Macks Austrian Army was destroyed bewteen Ulm and Augsberg after which is was a race between the French and the Russians to reach Vienna. A race which I won shattering Kutusov's Corps near Kremms.

Final VP was 86

French Losses: 120 Casualties, 4 surrendered, 1 Shattered
Coalition Losses: 365 Casualties, 26 Surrendered, 11 Shattered

Quite pleased with that result though I did have the FOW minimised.

Not having as much luck playing Austrian though.

The way to play Austria is RUN!!!
Move your corps VERY fast through Munich, and unite with the Russians.
Either time will run out - Allied Victory
Or you may catch an Isolated persuing french corps

Actually, I did manage to beat the French eventually without conducting a major retreat.

But I agree that as a matter of necessity one must extract the Austrian's from the potential trap being srung form the North.
