Owned the EIA boardgame in the eighties. Lost it after I joined the Navy. ('83-'89)

What does EiH stand for?

It stands for "Empires in Harms", an unoficial version of the rulebook, compiled/designed by Michael Treasure. It incorporated clarifications of most disputed original rules interpretations, several house rules, advanced naval combat, and a number of other enhancements (privateers, revolts, diplomacy with minors, random events etc.). If I'm not mistaken it's development stoped at version 4.0 when it got a bit out of control with some unneccesary map changes, and too many game unbalancing ideas. All-in-all it was a great project that prolonged the life of EiA boardgame.

Thanks for taking the time to answer something I bet all the old timers already know.

Where was EiH published?

No, it was un-official game upgrade by Michael Treasure and more people.

So it can be considered an open source, like freeware, only available thru internet.

You can take a look at www.empiresinharms.com

Regards.

IIRC, there was a draft for version #6 in the works that was supposed to be released a while ago but was getting delayed? I still have the version 4 ruleset for EIH, I think that's the manual most people still have.

You are mistaken The development goes on strongly, version 6 will hopefully be clear of most gluthces that caused trouble in earlier versions. Testing and commenting the edition 6 rules (and map) is currently goin on, so that Mike can compile the perfect ruleset for Napoleonics Grand Strategy

I guess I was hanging arround here for too long
I'll go straight to google in search of the link. I'm curious to see what happened to the Ottoman movement restrictions, and how the latest map looks like.
Plus, it will give me somethnig to do while waiting for the Matrix version.

Thx for the update.
