Ah! This confused me at first.

But there is a subtle difference between being OUT OF SUPPLY and not having any supplies.

Basically every Corps can drag along about four days worth of supplies with it. The amount of supply remaining in the Corps backpacks and wagons is shown when you click on the Corps Commander.

If the Corps is IN SUPPLY then any consumption from this Corps supply train is replenished from the depot. In other words it gets topped up. However, if the Corps is OUT OF SUPPLY it means that it cannot replenish the supplies it has consumed and will eventually run out.

How long a Corps can remain OUT OF SUPPLY before it actually runs out of supplies depends up how much it had to start with and what it gets up to in the meantime. Either way it is important to re-establish a supply source for that Corps before it actually runs out of supplies or as soon as possible afterwards.

That's right, out of supply and having no supply is actually a bit different. If "out of supply" for very long a corps will use up its remaining supplies that it is carrying and then it will be in a tough spot.
