Ok, folks, here's some info on the sounds... First, all you have to do is copy them to the SND folder...they have unused numbers assigned, and won't overwrite anything. Now the problem...the game uses a series of 3 sound files for each weapon/unit. This is why you sometimes hear different sounds for the same unit when it fires multiple times in the same turn. The first sound file number associated with the unit wil be played first, followed by the next two files in ascending order Example: MG Team uses sound 600. When you fire unit, the game plays 600 sound. The next fire it plays 601, then 602. There is a variable in this, so you may not hear the second or third sound if there has been some delay between shots. Also, the game uses a default sound for the marching feet (actually, a set of three files). In order for the new sounds to be used, you must edit each nation's OOB and assign a sound file to each foot unit or weapon. Since each unit/weapon uses a set of three, if you use the last file in the group the unit will sometimes use the files in the next set. Example: You assign a British foot unit to use sound 848, the last sound file in the British set. In game, however, there will be times when your Tommies will start yelling in French, because the first French sound file is number 849. The OOB's supplied with these sound files show the units with their sound files assigned. If you don't want to use those OOBs, you'll have to edit your own. Also, to fix the problem like the Brit/French one I described, you will have to make 2 extra copies of each sound file and renumber the lot, soeach sound has three identical files. Then, using the lowest number of the three, modify each OOB. I did this myself, and it wasn't all that difficult. Make 3 folders, name them Sound 1, Sound 2, and Sound 3. Copy the new sound files into each folder, and rename them. I found it helpful to write out a list so I wouldn't rename files the same number. After all that is done, copy them all into the sound folder, and then go edit the OOBs.
