Best idea is to PM or Email him and ask nicely if he will send you it.

His username is SteveLohr (no spaces)

He did ask if he could post the map as a download on the forum but I don't think anybody responded.

There is no restriction on him doing it apart from size and type of file (which is outlined when you try to attach something)

I realise that but the file is 1.1Mb which is way over the limit to be an attachment. It needs a special download link I think.

Perhaps someone with a CotD website could offer to host the downlaod?

I believe one such site does exist. It was run in support of Frank's games and there was a link on the main site page of Adanac's website if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, the Adanac site is down, but I believe in the not to distant future it will be coming out.

I'll do some digging and see if I can find something to help you.

I'd be willing to provide Steve's map from my own Web site, http://www.thurb.com/.

I'm also working on my version of the map, which I expect will be ready by the weekend.

No reply from Steve, but I've now completed my own map, which you can download here: http://www.thurb.com/games/danube/intro.htm

This version is 1.04 MB (JPEG, level 30). The PNG version is 10.8 MB; I don't know if anyone wants that?

Thanks Jon,

I've downloaded it.

The only thing I would mention is that those planning to use Jon's map as a background for Game Mapper will need to convert it to .bmp format. Thats easy to do using paint but obviosly makes the file a lot bigger.

I could provide my map in BMP format, but the size is 16.1 MB (or 14.6 MB zipped). Of course the quality would be slightly higher because JPEG compression involves some loss of image quality.

Note that the PNG version is exactly the same high quality as the BMP but it's a smaller file (10.8 MB) even than the zipped BMP.

Personally, I don't think thats necessary. I'd rather be able to download it quickly in .JPEG and convert on my PC. The only reason I need BMP is becuase I'm using GameMapper for strategic planning.

GameMapper can be obtained from here: http://www.imagineimage.org/products/game_mapper.htm

It actually does a lot of things which are probably best read about on the website.

In CotD terms what I use it for is to keep track of the intelligence reports provided by the game and to record my campaign strategy. You can see some examples of the way I use GameMapper on my Campaign Log thread.

However, here is an example:

Hello Ray, if a quotation is good enough to be repeated with every message, surely it's good enough to be spelt correctly?

Sorry, I didn't see that people were trying to reach me. I only visit the forums once a month or so. Bottom line-anyone can use my map, although Johnathan appears to have posted a superior one at his website.
