In the old "Pacific War" its possible to transfer air units to bases outside their range by loading them aboard merchant shipping.I haven't yet figured out a way of doing this in WitP. The only reference I've found in the Manual , though I may have missed it, is to loading them (crating them) aboard carriers. There is an option in creating Task Forces for creating "Air Transport " forces, which can include AKs and APs, but it doesn't seem possible actually to load a/cs on them. So if for example, I wanted to transfer a Mohawk squadron from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor (beyond its air range) is there any way of doing it?

Create the Air Transport force using AKs then use the load troops command and the air group should be listed.

Thanks for that, Splinterhead. Looks like I'll have to print that Manual off

Naw, just thought I'd offer up my congrats to the first who appeared to actually have read it. The mention of AK's loading aircraft is quite far into the manual. I was impressed as I don't ever read manuals unless someone forces me to

Look at the HQ the air group belongs to. West Coast units can not be loaded without you transfering them to a non-restricted HQ. The West Coast groups can not leave the USA.

I haven't read the manual from cover to cover but I knew about the moving aircraft via AK's. When you go to load troops into an AK TF, airgroups are listed as potential passengers. Seemed easy enough to figure out.

I like having the manual open while learning to play and alt-tabbing to it when necessary. Glad to see WitP is as alt-tab friendly as UV was.
