And how suprised was I to find the ship I actually served on in the game? Very. Its so beautiful.

I served on board AS19 Proteus from 1990 to 1992. Hull was so thin that dry docking her was out of the question. Now she is a berthing barg for carrier refits in bremerton. AS19 served as flag ship to COMSUBPAC on september 2 1941 in Tokyo Bay.

Hi, and good to see another shipmate, even if it is just by association. We were coming back in 93' from Italy to decom, and they were placing bets on if we would burn and sink during the voyage. Those diesels really leaked bad.

A tidbit for you all. The main propulsion engines for these ships were the same as the subs they tended. If the sub needed an engine they would simply cut a hole in the side of the ship, yank the engine, and replace the subs engine.

cant believe these things have been around so long. Found my grand fathers sub too...USS Segundo

. By the way did you mean 1945 and not 1941?
