This game is a monster! After running the tutorial last night, I gave the Coral Sea scenario a try. I haven't played UV in months, so I was rusty and it showed. I managed to pull out a marginal victory as the Japanese. I didn't spot the US CV's at all and I took too long to get my troops onto transports and onto Port Moresby. So the entire 32nd US Infantry division was waiting for my dribbles of troops and on last turn of scenario (I only managed to land two days prior), they shock attacked me out of there. I lost one CL and one AP, sank about five MSW's and PG's at Port Moresby with some a surface TF at the end. No air strikes by my or US CV's. As I said, I was mostly concentrating on re-learning the game system and like the new enhancements. SO not much combat to show for seven hours of gaming, two weeks worth of game time. I can see that a scenario of months duration will take weeks if not months (real time) to complete. I'll tackle one of the Dec 41 scenarios next. I think the AI did a capable, conservative job, next time I'll be more aggressive and see how it responds. Happy gaming!

Just a note, consider Historical play a training level. Everyone once they get some experience should step it up 1 notch for some real play.

I agree from my observations so far. I am starting the Rising Sun scenario, I need to spend time learning land combat, amphibious invasions and all that prior to handling more.

I played this scenario also, in large part because I was familiar with the OOB and Map, having played UV.

Overall, I thought that it was much more manageable than UV's Coral Sea scenario.

The enemy AI wasn't quite as "SMART," lol, it didn't do stuff like refuse to attack my carriers, turn after turn, when I had all my fighters set to CAP my task force, and for that I am very gratful! ;)

But, one aspect of the scenario seems kinda strange. The OOB for the Allies is WILDLY different from UV in that the Allies have at least TWICE as many land-based a/c in the new game.

So, I was wondering if anyone from the TEAM knows which one is more accurate, UV or War in the Pacific?

Great game, BTW! :D
