I just sent my 5 PT boats from manila up to the top of PI to stop the IJN landings. Figured it was suicide. they encountered a CL and 5 DD's. They scored 0 torp hits, but left the CL and 4 DD's burning and on fire with 50 cal rounds that scored multiple penetrations and internal explosions. I've read that IJN ships had thin hulls, but is this possible or could it be the 50 cal is too powerfull? Just wondering.

hum.. playwood toy vs steel warship armed with multi purpose weapons... guess this is a big error.. we have seen this in the aar's too... pts also historically did little damage to ijn warships during the war.....

I don't think this could ever have happened in real life.

I had a similar experience where my Phillipine-based PTs stumbled into a TF containing a CVL which the AI had decided to take through the islands from East to West. Two of the PTs were sunk, but the rest put torpedoes into the CVL and a cruiser, sending them both back home.

I'm not going to complain...

Also, IIRC, PT boats in the Phillipines during the Battle of Leyte gulf ambushed the Yamato's sister ship and slowed it down enough for the planes to finish off.

I'll leave it for the "experts" to confirm or correct me... (don't ask me for my definition of an "expert"... )

maybe it was a fow issue, and these where torp hits .. other wise lookout.. forget every other ship.. at the cost of pt's... just stock up and save.. really come on now a pt boat is not an attack platform for guns.. it carries them.. but it is a torp launching platform... this will be an interesting one to whatch... Methinks the testers would have could this.. I've never seen a more thouroughly overtested release in 37 years of gaming
