I'm playing Camppaign 42B as Allies v AI (historical difficulty), and weird things are happening. Is it just me, or is this what I can expect:

1. I invade Lunga as expected and take the island etc.
2. AI totally ignores what I am doing for about 14 days, but bombards an almost empty Gili Gili base 5 nights in a row, leaving undamaged BBs in Rabaul port after each mission where I can bomb them with B17s. All 4 Kongo class are there now, all damaged by bomb attack.
3. After 14 days, AI starts to send surface forces to Lunga where they sit for 3-4 days doing nothing except sink under air attack.

It's now August 28th, and I've sunk Mutsu, Nagato, Ise and Yamashiro at least!!!! All done by one FG of P39s and one squadron of SBDs. Who needs Iowa etc? Home by Christmas!!
Is this an unfortunate quirk which won't happen if I restart or......

Experience others have had with the AI would be interesting to hear about. Don't get me wrong, it's still the game of the century!!!!!!!!!

That sounds awfully like the Japanese AI from UV ... Bombarding random allied bases for little effect and putting entire fleet into port to be bombed. Do you see vast swarms of barges as well?
