So far, it does not appear putting rear bases on auto supply seems to do much. I placed over 40 AK's at both San Francisco and Karachi into the auto supply system and then added Pearl Harbor and some of the big Indian ports, and Colombo on the system. The most supply these places had was about 24,000 or so. All I've gotten so far is one dinky five boat TF heading to Pearl from San Francisco with 35,000 supply loaded??? Nothing out of Karachi in over 2 weeks, not even to Colombo.

I tried to place Sydney on the Auto supply system and so far, nothing. Sydney really needs more than it is producing to support the eventual buildups further north.

None of these bases is under an Japanese Air Zone of Control, yet anyway.

Needless to say, I've pretty much given up on Auto Supply to move adequate supplies into Theater rear areas. I ended up loading up over 120,000 Supplies headed for Colombo, where I have smaller AK's ready to take that move it forward to Diamond Harbor, Calcutta and Dacca.... I kind of thought the Auto Supply system would do some of this for me, but no go....

What am I missing?

Auto-Supply works with the *requested* number. It will not stockpile for that big fight you plan on launching.

Is there a published formula for figuring out what the "requested" number is? Apparently, most of my target bases bases are yet to "request" anything.

No worry, though. I'm shutting it off for now. Might be OK later in the game the rear areas get REALLY in the backwater rear....(Playing the Allies right now....Japan is simply too much to swallow at this point)

Bring up your List Bases display. Look at the Supply *required* numbers. If it goes coloured, the base calls home for a TF full of goodies.

AH... that's kind of wht I thought. Only when the base gets "short". Well, that won't do....at least not up front.... OZ needs 1,000,000+ not 24,000.... I don't think auto is going to deliver 1,000,000.....

A nice enhancement would be to allow the player to set the requested level. It would increase the usability at least 100% for me - and would also help me feel like the operational commander.

I would be more than happy to let the computer handle routine supply. I nice feature would be to allow the human player to set up the initial TF, say a supply TF of 50 of those 7,000 capacity AK's, and set it's destination as Auckland, NZ (to keep it out of range of those nasty Nell's) or Sydney or whereever, and then have the computer just move it back and forth and forth and back for the rest of the game.....

Yeah they had that in UV and I used that feature heavily, both would be nice for me.

I could set up continuous runs to PH from a 15 AK TF, and let all the backwater bases be supplied by the auto-convoy as is, but I could say for Brisbane, Noumea and Dacca set 250,000 supply as the threashhold.

In WitP you need to choose destination first and then you can change to CS. In UV you had to go computer control and then pick destination.

I`m only up to 1/15/42 in the Campaign but....

Given the time it takes to load supply, a 7000 capacity AKA can take up to a week, add the seemingly very slow movement rates, the *required* number needs IMHO to be raised at the key forward supply heads like Pearl, Suva, Brisbane, etc.

By the time they go "red" your looking at up to a month+ to get supplies to just Pearl. I`m not complaining, I like the feature and understand that it does make the game more realistic and perhaps historically accurate and slower paced all of which are really good things, and a great improvement from PacWar, however some fine tuning of the *requested* number trigger for key bases auto supply may be in order.

Actually I too would like to be able to set the number in Game, but that may not be in the card at this time.

I left the forum for a while, enter the game, and...YES, YOU CAN create CS TF´s as in UV. First you must be sure than the ships are out of the Auto suply system, then create a new transport TF and before you can change to computer control you must select a destination, when you do it, the buton is operative and its posible.

Sorry foliveti for the redundance, I didn´t see your reply at time. I was worried about it could not be do it....well that means we can made good use of the CS option, in my opinion it will be the best, at least to UV veterans.
The problem now is how to make safe routes to destination, perhaps the "no unload" TF option is the point, something as base jumping routes.

Yes, some sort of "build for offensive" switch or the ability to adjust the base needs of a port to allow extra supply to flood in would be nice. I really only want to manage TF that are supporting an invasions. There is a lot to look after.

I know that there are tons of requests and wish lists coming in. I have no doubt they are being sifted and we will see a lot of them in the future.

Well I did that with a TF from Karachi I had destined for Dacca. I created a 15 ship AK TF, set the destination for Dacca, Loaded Supplies and then set to Computer Controlled. Stupid thing half loaded the AK's then unload them and disbanded the TF!!! Go figure....

I got so disgusted at the Auto convoy that I shut the whole rotting mess down.
It was taking ships out of my other TF's!!!
Computers should know their place...
It also tends to run the TF's right by strongly held island with lots of aircraft
I just do the whole thing myself now. Its must to stupid to be of use.

Yea, I was kind of suprised at the path's chosen. Seemed awfully close to enemy Air Zones of Control. Thought it was supposed to do a path adjustment for that stuff, but it doesn't do enough.

Pretty much have decided to scrap the Auto Convoy system, entirely, especially since most of the Beta Testers have claimed to never use it.

I will try some single computer controlled TF's to see if I can get them to work right. At least a SF to Pearl and Karachi to Colombo one....

The pathfinding in general is a little odd. A convoy from Karachi to Sydney drives all the way into the DEI and north around Australia.
