Oh and one other thing for us newbies. Please add the full name of the ship types to the in-game ship information. Maybe a quick desciption on effective usage would be helpful too.

I think I can figure out BB and CV but AGC took me a while.

Ok heres my short list so far

1. Recon - ability to recon any hex land, water, or TF. Right know can only recon bases or land units. I want to find out the make up of passing TF's and find those sneaky Japanese units before they show up on my base!

2. ETA - for ship taskforces in both the ship list screen and ship/TF screen, I'm tired of calulating 180 hexes/2 hexes per day = 90 days.

added to list

3. New Arrival Screen in the intel report that shows what new units arrived where.

1) Wherever you find a hex designation (ex. 114,34 ), i would like to have a link to the map to see where that hex is.

Sorry no can do

2) a waypoint system for tfs. Moving tfs from San Francisco to OZ can be problematic when they boldly sail through enemy territory. Now, i get around this by making OZ home base and the destination somewhere safe in the south pacific well out from enemy coverage. But then I have to repeat the process for the return journey and it can get to be a lot of work.

Sorry no can do

Actually, while I would still love to see some filtering of messages per turn, PARTICULARLY these...

25 Army Group assigned orders...
Idle TFs disbanding
assigning major attacks

Etc, yaddi, yaddi, ya... That stuff in a single player game is just WAY too excessive. It could be filtered down to...

25th Army Group orders complete
South Seas Fleet orders complete
ABDA (if AI controled) orders complete

and so on... THEN you'd jump into the operational part of the turn then far as I'm concerned, dazzle me with the messages cause thats stuff I need to know.

added to list

That's wish #1. Wish #2 is simpler in scope, but may be harder to code... The "EXIT" and "DONE" buttons? I'd love for them to be hit by spacebar as well. That way you don't have to be running the blasted mouse the whole time. You can just sit back and watch...

That's it from me... Other issues if any have been SO SUBTLE that I haven't really noted them.

When the computer starts crunching the AI code, press 'z'. That will cancel the message delay.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but easier to read ground units would be nice. For example, "30th Australian Brigade - INF" is fine, but "2854 30th Australian Brigade - INF" is not. This is especially annoying when there are multiple ground units at a base.

no can do

The only problem with hitting escape is it sometimes closes two windows: the combat animation and combat report.

My number one issue is I would like to be able to return ground units to be empty shells and return all squads to pool.

This is especially required in India where due to the low level of Indian squad replacements throughout the war I would like to be able to say ok 17th Indian division will transfer its only bgde (i.e. its 100 assault points worht of squads) back to the pool for reassignemtn to allow another division to be brought up to strength. either that or Make Indian replacements grow as war goes on 40 just aint enough in my opinion I would happily give up a re inforcement formation for the ability to grow my replacements.

(Also arent British replacements a tad high at 40 squads per month all through the war I wasw sure that the UK started to run low on Inf by 44 surely UK replacements should decline in 43/44 and only pick up again in 45.)

you can already do this in two ways.

1) assign the FG/FS to a specific base, (its own) for the escort mission. It will NOT escort any bombers to any other locations

2) set the max range of the FG/FS to lower than that of any nearby enemy base or just set it to 1.

If you can figure out exactaly what is sequence of steps cause this to happen, post it in the bug thread and we'll look at it.

I'd like to have the ship selection filters that are available in the port view screen (CV, BB/BC, DD/DE etc.) available to use when creating a TF, or transferring ships to or from a TF.

Oh, and a "Form New TF" button on the screen that shows the list of ships in a port.

Already on the list.

Turn resolution will continue to get slower as more stuff gets added. Can't really be helped. Everything adds to the duration of a turn.

Suspected as much. The bugger does have a LOT of information to muddle through. I guess what I wouldn't mind seeing is something like a filter so all the command decisions would just be shown as "South seas fleet: Orders complete" or something for that part of the turn. Then when the action starts, let it run... Probably just nit-picking cause like you say, the more gets added into the game as it wears on, it'll get longer...

Ah well...

We had something like this durning test and the testers did not like it becaues it appeared to slow things down.

It would be nice to see a radio tower icon on the map screen for the sigint report locations that you pick up each turn.Adding onto it have a radio silence option for TFs.When on radio silence their orders/target cant be changed unless you click off radio silence.Upon doing so your opponent would receive a sigint report if one of their bases are within range of the TF.

As well a sightings menu of all enemy sighted during the turn with a click to go to location. It would save a ton of time flying all over the map.

Great ideas but would require too much time and code. Sorry.

My wishes:

1. ships sunk screen -- how about the date sunk? Later in the war, it helps to know what sank yesterday.

Already on the list

2. create TF from port screen (seconding someone's note, above)

3. this one irks me: during air combat, when I close the graphic screen, we continue to see pilot results go on, and on, and on... Sorry to you pilots out there, but when I want the screen to end, I want to get to the results screen and not wait (had one combat yesterday where one plane got shot at by two squadrons, and everyone claimed a kill... ).

sorry no can do

4. to #3, how about allowing us to turn off specific graphic combat screens? (say, turn off air-air, but keep air-surface, etc)

sorry no can do

5. how about horizontal rules between every third or fifth entry on the longer tables (eg, a/c losses, ship/unit arrivals, etc). Helps when reading across the entries.

added to list

1) A "Previous/Next Base" button and hotkeys. If possible: sorted by size of base and/or each region.

Added to list

2) Unit arrivals shown in a report not just as it flys by in the lower left window.

Already on the list

Thanks for any consideration of these suggestions.

My apologies if these have already been suggested or if they already exist and I'm too dense to find them.

1. I second the motion for hotkeys (e.g, arrow keys) to cycle through bases and TFs.

already on list

2. How about hotkeys to cycle through air and ground units in a given hex? Again, arrow keys might be nice candidate.
already on list

3. More hotkeys generally. Mousing hurts my hands; keyboarding doesn't.

4. A hotkey or button to "make home base same as destination hex." I often seem to want to send a TF away and tell it to stay where it's going, so I end up clicking on the destination hex twice -- once to set the DH, once to set the home base. (Is there a way around this already?)

added to list

5. Off-topic: a fix to the sound bug!

I also want to be able to have a hot key that will cycle through the taskforces on the map without having to select each one.

Oh, hell yes! Even PacWar had this!

Also one for ports (with ships in them). And one for airfields with at least one air group.

As long as this is a wish list, East Front had a feature where at the beginning of a turn, a cycle flag was set. You could hotkey through every unit unit each one had been "considered". Once you had looked at each one a message popped up saying that you had touched each unit. Keeps from forgetting a unit on the map.

Any chance?

Added to list. As good a chance as any of the others.

This is already in the game...click on a base....lower part where it has the base's name are two arrows....try them
