Dear all

Just wondering if anyone has had one of their ships perform outstandingly in one of the campaign games.

I'm mid-way through Scen 15 and one ship clearly stands out as being captained by Superman and crewed by the X-men.

HMS Thanet. Having dashed from Hong kong following Japanese invasion, she made her way through two airstrikes while shooting down 3 bombers, sank a submarine that tried to Torpedo her. A Week later she sortied alone from Singapore having refueled and caught and mauled a small Jap Tanker force off of Borneo. On the way home to Singapore she was intercepted by the CA Ashigara and two DDs in a confusing night action which saw Thanet escape unscathed after putting a torp into Ashigara.

If things continue like this I think I'll have HMS Thanet steer direct for Tokyo and bring an victorious end to this scenario.

(One other thing, thrilled with the presence of a french super destroyer I sent it and an accompanying Australian DD - HMAS Voyager on a submarine sweep off of Port Morseby. Both DDs were sunk by the same sub the day they arrived...bugger!)

My DDs from Hong Kong did not do so well. 2 sunk outright, the third limped into manila with 35 SD. I guess that one won't make it out

I restarted to try my own supply tacyics, but it is now dec25 1941 and POW and her BC and 2cl and 4 dd's have been going back and forth from Singapore sinking3 ijn CA's and 12 AK's,4 AP's. This is SCN 15, and the Jap airforce does not seem very concerned that a BB and a BC are running loose. Im glad.

Gallop polls taken among Allied merchant men vote Kido Butai as #1 on their list of outstanding preformers.

LOL! Lad's either dedicated or crazy! LOL! I'm only a month into the big one. Heh! At any rate though it might be fun to tally up a list of our "superior" performers. Assuming we have any to watch. HMS Thanet sounds like a candidate. I'm sure there'll be TONS more... I mean we are afterall only on what? Week 3 of a 2-4yr venture? LOTS more gaming to do!

Im playing the Guadalcanal campaign. BB Washington has single handidly sunk two BB's 1 CA, heavily damaged a CA, Heavily damaged two CL's and sank 4 DD's and numerous smaller vessles and proably a dozen merchant vessels. If it wasnt for running back and forth for ammo I would probably have sunk half the south seas fleet by now.
her day exp is 84 and her night exp 65.
She has taken two 24 inch long lance torpedo and 1 250 Kg AP bomb and has 10 sys damage. Im thinking about taking her offline for about 10 days to see if I can take down a point or two of sys damage.
Knowing my luck she will be torpedoed on the way back

I sent that French DD (was it Le Fantastique?) with the Voyager and an Aussie CA (don't remember the name) and we brutally slaughtered an enemy convoy landing in Rabaul harbor. :D Little hit and run raids with cruisers and destroyers can deal a lot of hurt against the Jap when he's overconfident, I've found..

My Hong Kong DDs got torpedoed pretty quickly. None survived. :(

I was five days into the campaign before I noticed that I had three DDs at HK. Got them to Manila where one was sunk by LBA. The other two got away to Balikpan.

Geez...

Knowing your luck I'd say more like she'll ram and sink the sub!

Heh,

Knowing FsJ's luck Washington will ram not only sub but also its torpedoes and maybe even some planes on Rabaul's airfield
