I know that this is a simple procedure but it still eludes me so can someone help this poor struggling player who is still learning?

I make sure that I have more than enough cargo points and the task force is formed. I also make sure that I have a ground unit in the hex with the transports and it is not static. When I click on load troops the list for qualified troops is empty. Neither ground unit of TF is moving. What am I missing or doing wrong?

and another question

how in the blue blazes can I keep a ship/TF in a port or hex that is not its home port? They keep running off!!!!

a) READ!!!!! about restricted units and why they can't be loaded. I must post at least twice a day on this one.

b) Reset the ships home port to where you are and they will stay put. If not, make sure they are set to do not retire and anchor the puppies.

Think I'll tack onto a thread instead of starting a new one again.

About loading troops and the algorithm used to distribute them between transports. After I got the hang of the new load differences between the three transport types I was able to rig up task forces that could load all the troops I needed to move. Well, I have had more than one instance where, in a fleet with sufficient cargo capacity and ships selected specifically to ensure that all units could be loaded across multiple ships, the troops have been loaded in a very inefficient manner, wasting large amounts of space and causing fractions of units to be left behind. Is this supposed to be happening?

I am having that problem too.
Im finding it easier to just use lots of transports and selecting 'load only troops'
Just making lots of small TF's instead of big ones.
Its a hassale and I dont know what Ill do in the big scenarios but it avoids having things left behind.

Load each unit separately in it's own group of ships. You will find your ability to control things is much simpler and you can pack the sardines better if you so wish. Just keep in mind: the tighter you pack them, the longer they will be there unloading.

When assaulting, it is better to spread your troops out over more ships then are required so they unload faster and get into combat sooner.

Load Troops Only is a good way of getting the higher value AP's out of there quicker, but remember that you also have to provide escorts to these ships when they run home so it ties up twice the resources.
