I purchased WitP last weekend and just finally got it to work yesterday afternoon. The problem for me was the game would freeze up or reboot my system when I entered a combat screen. At first I played with that screen turned off but then the game would still act up every once and a while.

I just assumed I had a sound problem because my speakers would go crazy when the game locked up. However after a few hours testing yesterday I found the problem was my graphics card. To make a long story short I finally got the game to work by going to the Troubleshoot Tab and moving the "Hardware acceleration" slider to "None". Now the game works fine. The card is a Radeon 9800XT. Has anyone else had to do this?

Peever, I have a Sapphire 9800XT and have no such problems. I am using the reference drivers from ATI, and have the latest ones installed (along with the latest directX). I guess you werent overclocking or anything, as that can cause odd little problems?

no problems here with a 9800XT but then again, I have a nice expensive ASUS P4C800-E motherboard. Most video problems tend to be the interface to the motherboard, not the card itself.

hehe... you too ? too much money ?
i wanted the i870er chipset... and payed for it...

oh, for the gameproblem, have a sapphire 9800pro @ XT, no problems with this.

I had, untill now just 3 crashes (the game reseted itself, but not the computer), very stable (and if you rethink that this is a changed own sceario, this is really a good sign !

I get similar problem and the only way I can unfreeze my game during the combat phase is to ALT-TAB then go back to the game.

As for the system I got Radeon 9700pro and Abit TH7 II – RAID “Intel 850 chipset” (nice expensive board few years back), so I don’t agree 100% with Mr. Frag comment about the motherboard.

I can speculate that my problem could be a game problem and reason being is that my game only hangs/freezes when my air force executes a night attack and there are night fighters defending the target areas. If there are no night fighters then there is no problem.

ps: will try the hardware slider once I get a chance.

I got a 9800pro with an Asus P4B533E mainboard. No CTDs, but the combat animations are not running smoothly.

Using 3.7 cats btw.

9800PRO with latest Omega drivers. Runs very well... (As long as I play without sound.)
