Hi Guys We have found a few bugs.... and we are correcting them and updating the OOBs in the game as well We are hoping to have the new v7.1 available some time this week God willing. Paul and Tom have really dived back into the code and the OOBs to fix problems. We should all go and buy both these guys a round they really do deserve it.

I'm just praying the changes in 7.1 don't throw all my v7 designs in the trash.

Let's all take a deep breath. There will be a v7.2 too. 7.1 is definitely a step in the right direction vis 7.0, but such great changes as are happening now always need revision before they can be called satisfactory.

Which designs?
I must admit. I loved it when 7.0 was finally released, but Ill even be more happy when 7.1 comes out. there were alot of typos, duplicate formations, crazy armor penetration arguements,Mortar oddities, all around everything kinda looked Jumbled up, not "clean" if you get my meaning.
kinda like when 6.0 came out, thought it was great until 6.1 came out.
Matrix Rocks!
Thanks for continued dedication!

I don't think it will Warrior - it seems they are fixing what went wrong and making the armor so it works like it should - that is "more result options" - not changing it. The biggest problem with this "old" code is when you fix one thing, something that was already working may mess up - I'm glad Matrix is trying to fix things and we'll just have to see what pops up afterwards.

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite impressed with the gaming quality of SP7 I originally played the original Steel Panthers when it was released many years ago along with Modern Battles. Its certainly more detailed but has retained alot of the fun element to it, I was sorta hoping for an overhaul of the graphics engine bit its a minor gripe.

Alby, I gotta say I've really been impressed with your dedication to the suggested OOB changes, so from one rocker to another, there's good rockin tonight. I'll raise a toast to you, so let the good times roll. I'm a 25-year veteran bass player, what do you play , Alby?

Actually, Alby, was referring to an old 50s tune that Paul McCartney covered in his 93 TV concert from Charlotte NC, but Montrose will do. You didn't catch my reference to the Cars' "Let The Good Times Roll". What kind of music do you like to play, as a bassist? I'm pretty much a rocker, but give me a little reggae and some improv funk on the side. Speaking of Paul, he's my bass-playing hero. I also like John Paul Jones and Chris Squire. Now, if you're a historian, another guy who influenced many players is James Jamerson. This is the guy who played on most of those classic Motown hits of the 60s, and invented the bass sound that we've all imitated time & again when we play "My Girl" or "Tracks of my Tears", and many others. ] [ January 13, 2002: Message edited by: KG Erwin ]

KG, if you like reggae influences, are you a fan of early Police work w/ Sting? While I am a guitar player, I've frequently heard bassists rave about the bass player for Level 42, also recently the Blues Travelers (live).

I'm not familiar with Level 42, but I've heard Blues Traveler--one of those great improv bands, like the Grateful Dead in their prime. I'm a big fan of the Police & Sting's solo career. I saw the Police in concert in 1982. That was one of the best sounding shows I've ever seen. I'm also a fan of the late Bob Marley--his bass player, "Family Man" Barrett, is one of my favorites, too.

Interesting. The cleanest sounding show I ever saw was Joe Satriani at a large nightclub in Baltimore, MD. It was unbelievable. Now, he gets to me after awhile with all that spanking, but I tell you the notes were so discernable throughout the nightclub - it's ruined alot of live stuff for me now because it was such a high quality sound and I am now overly disappointed when I listen to people these days. It was superior in many ways to a recording. He had Stu Hamm with him on bass. That was a great show. I always say, the soundman (soundboard) is the fifth bandmember (or sixth or seventh or whatever). He can make or break you.

I'm also a former bass player. 17 years full time, retired in '89 to do the family thing and go back to school. I'm an IT professional now and looking to get my feet wet in the music scene after a 4 year layoff.
I must say that in almost 30 years being a musician, I never met another musician even remotely interested in wargaming. To hear of 2 others in one day is phenomenal! Matrix rocks!
