I've just completed the 15th battle of the Lost Victories Mega-Campaign. I fought the battle "The Kolkhoze" with no options and got a moderate victory with a score of 6425 for myself and 1286 for the AI. Everything went fine up to that point. When I continue the campaign, it showed my next battle to be Potapov Strikes. I fought that battle on my 12th battle and got a draw. I figured that I must have really goofed up to be sent back to the Pripet Marshes, so I went ahead and continued the campaign. All of a sudden on the bottom left of my screen, I noticed OOB data being loaded and as soon as that was completed, it threw me to the screen where I pick playing myself versus the computer or human. I hit continue on that and I was thrown to my Windows screen. I retried the above 3 times and ended up with the same result. Would appreciate any advice as to what I can do to fix this problem.

Here are a couple of easy generic fixes that might solve your problem. Delete the steel.prf file in the MatrixGames/SPWAW/save folder (the game will recreate when restarted and you change something in the preference screen), if your running and OS higher than Win 98 SE turn off the Command and Control (C&C) in the preference screen this posses problems in Mega's with newer OS's, try running the game directly from the mech.exe file, this bypasses the autorun menu which is notorious for memory hogs and leaks. At the beginning a each battle save, many problems have been related to corrupted saves in ongoing continuation battles. FYI after you have deleted the steel.prf file you will have to go to the preference screen and adjust the settings to your liking to recreate this file. Good luck

Gmenfan, I appreciate your quick reply. I do save my battles after each one and I save several times during the battle. It hung on me on one earlier battle and I restarted it from where I saved it before. This time it did not give me that option. I am running a 1.5 gig P4 machine and never had any problems with this game previously. I have always had good luck. Until now, that is. I am a big Matrix fan and still am, even with this problem. I am not too computer smart however, and I only know the basic remedies. I will probally restart the campaign again. I went through those 14 battles using no options. The next time, I will use the first option I am furnished and see if that might change anything.

Hi David,
This is unusual. I checked the editor and the next node is An Elusive Foe, Node 16 as the result of a moderate victory. A defeat take you to Assignment to the Rear, where you guard prisoners. Send me your Lost Victorries.dat file so I can check it for cotrruptions

I always alt tab out after a battle and stash a copy of the save file in a "backup" directory after a battle in case such a thing strikes...

Brent, I've sent you an e-mail with hopefully the correct files zipped and attached. Paul, That is a good suggestion and one I will probally heed in the future. The campaign is great and a lot of fun but, a little frustrating to restart the campaign before you finish the first one. I will just consider it a learning experience. I want to thank all of you at Matrix for your wonderful support and your outstanding games you are putting out.
