Is it possible to launch a small number of land based bombers from a carrier similiar to Doolittle's Raid?

Is it possible to launch planes (either carrier planes or land based) from one location to run an airstrike then have them land at a different airfield?

The Dolittle raid is not included since the surprise and the effect on japanese strategy (going after midway instead of New Caledonia) doesn't work against a human opponent.

Doolittles raid was more of a morale booster than actually doing any credible damage to Japan. It was basically just to prove that we could hit them back in their backyard and to raise the spirts of the USA after Pearl Harbour.

The largest contribution it probably gave to the actual war effort was the paranoia it inspired in the Japanese command. If you study the uses of the carriers of the KB, you see some of them were deployed to chase suspected "Doolittle" style raids near the home islands early in the war that were actually never there.

Thus we do not have the capability to put B-25's on the Hornet. :)

Naval Aircraft will land at any airfield in range if their home carrier is damaged and they have sufficient fuel.
