Why USSR have no fleet?
I understand that his size in a percentage parity with fleet the USA and Japan does not maintain a competition, but you apply for historicity of game!
I have collected some data on list structure of fleet for the period of 1941-45 years.
For August, 8, 1945 the fleet incorporated: 2 CL, 13 DD, 19 PG, 10 MSW, 52 PC, 49 SC, 204 PT-Boat, 78 SS (10 large 22 medium class ship) and 1618 planes (1382 fighters and bombers).
Some data as the ships:
CLs:
type "Maksim Gorky":
1st "Kaganovich" Laid Down 28.08.38, Launched 07.05.44, Commissioned 06.12.44
2nd "Kalinin" Laid Down 12.06.38, Launched 08.05.42, Commissioned 31.12.42

Max Spd 32, Cruise Spd 16, Endurance 3100, Fuel 850, 9-180mm main gun, 6-100mm, 13-37mm AA, 6-533mm TTube.

DDs:
type 7 and 7U

Max Spd 39, Cruise Spd 19, Endurance 2565, Fuel 500, 4-130mm main gun, 2-76mm, 3-37mm AA, 6-533mm TTube.

I can bring in these data to a game format.

It would be great to also have the Soviet Pacific Fleet in WitP. If the Japanese player is stupid enough to provoke the Soviets early, these ships could cause some trouble for him!

You can ask all you want but at the moment the OOB emphasis for the patches will not be on getting the Soviet Navy into the game.

I'm also pretty sure that by now, the scenario designers know the Soviet naval OOB off by heart.

It is certainly possible, someone just has to actually do it. I am sure as time passes there will be more user created add-ons and scenarios.

The problem probably lies with limiting the Allied player from using the Soviet Ships in the war against Japan.. I can't think of any way short of a major rework to limit the use of Soviet Ships.... and since the war is all but over when they activate it doesn't really matter.

I agree 100% here. It really doesnt matter at all. However, to simulate the historic fact it is a matter of thinking about it.

Probably the ultimate "Truth" here... As time wears on, and the "mod'er" mode sets in, I'm certain a whole assortment of ideas will get incorporated. "What if" scenarios, and all other manner of ideas... Something I support 100%. We just have to get over the initial mechanical hump yet for some folks before anyone rolls into the "adjusting" of the game. Got all the time in the world IMHO as I'll be playing this game for years!

so would i. peter tsouras in Rising Sun Victorious has a russo-japanese war scenario. it's mostly land forces in 1940 so the russian fleet is bottled up but consider a japanese victory. no siberian troops in front of moscow in dec '41, possibly no war with the allies in the pacific until mid '42. very interesting possibilities.

btw herr fallschirmjaeger i sent you an updated banner with a better b/w b-25 pic in it.

I think a cool mod would be to add the communist chinese into the fray and make them AI controlled and hostile to both Japanese and the Allies... Would make china FAR more interesting..

Only ideas set an example and at once so much
You have infected me idea a fashion of the Russian-Japanese war of 1904-1905 year`s
to Xargun & Bravow01
I already wrote that the Soviet fleet small and on the end 41 years had no heavy ships, except for that half of fleet left in Vaenga and Murmansk at the end of 41 beginning 42 years on northern sea way. However "Fleet in been" and approach 45 years could not be executed without his support!
Capture of the south of Sakhalin and Kuril ridge is impossible without landing operations, and it already a historic fact!
I understand certainly that for this moment IJN has been completely paralysed but that prevents to insert the Soviet fleet into the scenario 007 for example or to add it in Grand Compaign and to block use as well as the Soviet Army

I don't see why it has to be modded in...if perhaps not in the next few patches (due to more pressing issues), eventually it should be "officially" incorporated. No offense, but "lack of importance" is a lame excuse. Free French got their "navy" in the game, why not the USSR?

Seems like a good "Spooky site" add-on with a series of home rules in the PBEM or as playing allied vs AI. (I'm guessing that if the AI were Allied, it would require a fair amount of coding to get it to act correctly.)

Homerules should keep the ahistorical out of the game, while still giving access to the Soviet fleet. That would also let the designers and testers see and avoid any pitfalls that arise with the new forces.

Just a thought,
T Rav

given that the nationalist chinese and the communist chinese fought among themselves and fought each other as much as they fought the japanese it would be like a mini "DIPLOMACY" game on mainland china. the ai could promise support and cancel it, friendly divisions could turn on each other. what a hoot.

haven't researched what the soviet navy had in the pacific in 1940. looks like 5 destroyers, 200 torpedo boats and 70 submarines (Rising Sun Victorious, 22). obviously not much of a threat to the japanese though the submarines and the japanese lack of asw could be a problem.
