Hi,

I'd love to have possiblity in Witp to have turns processed at background so computer could be used for other things with my computer while turns are processed. Or to have turns processed without map screen or anything that slows the processing. Atleast in my game at scenario 15 it takes quite a while to process the turns even I have all options set to max. speed and the there happens so much during turns that I check only text reports. Ok, my computer have only 1800 MHz, and 256 MB of memory.

If there allready is such option, I've missed that...

I'd love to know how fast turns could be processed if not having visual output? Like the map showing where things happen... Is there such option?

Even if I think that this is waste of time, but is there any chance to process the turn at background?

Anyone who understud what I meant? :) - Anyone else who would like this?

You could alt-tab to minimise the game, but if you do that with the turn running you get some graphic problems.. which you'd need to save and then re-start to get rid of.

I believe you can also run in windowed mode (not supported - but works) by changing the shortcut destination to;

"C:\Matrix games\War in the Pacific\War in the Pacific.exe" -w

That would then allow you to minimize the window and so something else.

Those are about your only two options I think.

Edit.. Also, I personally doubt that not have any graphics displayed would speed up turn resolution at all. The delay is in the thousands of unit checks and supply calcs going on.

Obviously turning off combat annimations, etc, will help.. but some things like 'training ship crews' seem to just take a long time.

Although there are parts of the game where I wish the turn process would be quicker I find it somewhat refreshing to have my 2.6 gig PC slowed up doing actual maths type calculations, rather than just trying to shove along the latest graphics.

I never thought I'd see the day when you'd need a fast machine for a none graphic task in a game

Hi

Yep - I understand what you mean! I run WitP on a 1.4GHz processor and turns can take a looonnng time :) It would be nice to, say, browse the internet while turns were being resolved.

From other threads I've seen that the game can be run in an unsupported windowed mode, but I haven't tried it yet. Presumably then you could minimise the window and do something else on the PC. It would probably have to be something using very little processor power though...

My way round the issue is to set my laptop up next to my desktop computer and use that whilst keeping an eye on the WitP turn...
