If BTR had tech support like UV and WiTP I would still be playing it. Great game but so many bugs I needed to keep a fly swatter next to the mouse.

Try this: Use British air units for a night attack but land them at a new base. Now they are day capable! I gave up on night bombing due to the pesky night fighters and tranferred them all to day attacks.

Did they ever put out any patches/updates? If so where can I get them? Not that I have time to play but I do have a second computer....

BAH!!! You obviously have not tried the new OOB and such from JC. He and Hard Sarge, Lemurs, Harley, Werner and others I do not want to forget but cannot remember all the names at the moment have done ALOT of work correcting and tweaking the game.

It still occupies a space on my hard drive.

http://pub103.ezboard.com/fbtrbombingthereichfrm19

Go there for the latest and greatest. You will have to register to view the forum though.
JC controls the OOB/Data patch but someone there can probably get it to you.
Once you get in there is a forum jump bottom right of the screen, click on BTR V1.05.

What is Bombing the Reich? I've seen this mentioned several times but don't know what it is. Is this a Matrix game?

Something GG did while with Talonsoft ... it and the earlier Battle of Britain were rather fun

Bombing the Reich or "BTR" or "OH MY GOD" as i like to call it is a massive spreadsheet like wargame that depicts the entire strategic air war against Germany and Italy on 24 hour turn basis

This gem has been sitting on my hard drive for 2 years now and i've yet to even come close to tackling it. Every time i contemplate it I break out into a cold sweat

Nope. Gary Grigsby also developed BTR. It was the entire air war over Europe from 1943 -1945. Every pilot of consequence, a production model for the Axis that dwarfs WITP.

The Allied player or computer enters his orders and then the German player executes his orders in real time. Intercepting air raids etc.

I believe it is about 5 years old or more. I believe it was published by Talonsoft. You might still find a few copies around somewhere for sale. The link is for the newest OOB/Data files. Alot of tweaking has gone into BTR by a few DEDICATED fans on their on time and their own dime.

Dang I type slow. Hey Nik, you have the latest OOB and such?

Water Cooler???

Sorry, IT folks get bottled water, not common swill. Leaving our desk to go to a cooler would be time wasted

The coolers are for the business folks who don't actually produce anything

I might. REmember visiting a website devoted to it and there was a link to a mod that advertised itself as the most authentic.

BTR is up to 1.05 complete. I think i got the 1.06x somewhere but the guy who has done the oob has gone missing. so 1.05 is the best to use - it fixed a lot of stuff - spooky used to have a link. I will send 1.05 to any one who e-mails me. (unless anyone tells me not to)!

But this game is a lost classic - along with BOB.

I loved this - first time I saw UV, I thought BOB/BTR - new I was going to be in heaven. Lots of thing you will find familiar. Like annoying small buttons etc:)

I'm sure these guys are recycling a lot ot this old code in one way or another - sure at some stage a Fw190 might arrive over Rangoon!!

Maybee cos its 1941 and they just can't see em!!! - Think about it. Up in cr4p weather, terrible instruments, morale shot to bits - " Hey cap if we go home now we can get a Singapore sling at the rooftop bar at the hilton and you might get to sh$g that bird you been after since 1938."

Best thing I came up with was to try and figure out what bases the German nightfighters were flying from. Then send one of your Mossie nightfighters to each of those bases so that it was loitering over the base at about 3000 feet when the Germans came back to the roost. Your Mossie gets into the landing pattern and KABLOOEY!! It took an awful lot of time to set this up, and I usually had two Mossies go to each base at at slightly overlapping times (never knew exactly when the Germans would come home). After experimenting, I got pretty good at it. I usually caught a couple each night, but sometimes one plane could shoot down four or five of the Germans. Like a said, a lot of work though.

The saving grace of WitP is that it can run on autopilot for at least a couple of turns. Not so BTR. Talk about a real time game. When I was really into it, I couldn't average but about one turn a day. I know Hard Sarge rolled through, but I guess I was just a wimp.

Hi byron13,

I think he looking at night fighters in WITP and not BTR - there are some over Singapore pre set - I think. Before you move em set to 1000ft or less, let em grt shot to hell but get some tasty hits on a cruiser.

BTW Ball bearing facs of civ hits? (BTR)

Oops - Sorry - -should have said forget night fighting - unless it's late in the war - remember each hex is 60 odd miles across (more?). How good is your eyesight at night, up in the air with no radar. and a crew who has heard about Jap fighters - let alone prison camps and a sea full of sharks, giant Squids, etc, etc?

For WitP use them as night intruders to pester airfields. They rarely take combat damage (but ops damage will get them unless you keep the fatigue down), usually do some damage, and occasionally get an a/c or two.

I also play BTR a fair bit.

Different beast entirely to WiTP but still one of my favourites. Also highly recommend the forum link 2ndACR posted above. I'm on there (as Steve1980). JC + others (myself minorly included ) have done a lot of work to improve this game. If you played BTR using V1.06 + V1.05 OB/OA you will see it is very very different to the initial release - Much more realistic with regard to plane specs, target locations and even the combat mechanics are much more accurate and realistic. You get the idea

My two cents.........

Steven
