Hi,

just downloaded the game and tried the starting tutorial.
The tutorial (found in the manual) works well till it wants me to put my HQ forces in a Half-Track. It says that my HQ forces are in hex 36,26. Buts that not true. They are in another hex :-(

What am I doing wrong.....

Any suggestions... ?

Regards

Michael

Could be a clerical error. The manual is quite old these days.

Maybe I can help.

To locate a specific unit (If you can't find your HQ for instance) click on the clipboard icon. This brings up your army roster. Now click on the top grey box with A0 (Your HQ) written on it on it. This will teleport you to the hex where this unit is.

1 Select a halftrack nearby. (Once a halftrack is selected the ground light up -illustrating how far it can move that turn. (Firing and getting fired upon may change this once you get moving)

2 Move a halftrack towards the HQ so that the HQ lies within the halftracks movement radius.

3 With the halftrack selectd. Press and keep [Shift] button pressed down, then click on the HQ unit.

4 The halftrack should move to the same hex as the HQ unit. (You hold down [Shift] to move units into hexes occupied by other units.]

5 Now to load the HQ select the HQ or the halftrack - press l and click on the unit to load/be loaded.

6 Have fun

Funny, just checked and the HQ is at 36,26. Hunter42, you are playing the very first scenario in the spwaw 8.2?

OK OK !!!

Just double checked and guess what: I was wrong

I guess that I accidentally moved the HQ with my first mouse click....

Going on just now....

Thx for quick replies !

Then you've just encountered the most dangerous thing that can befall you on the field of battle.

Wanting to select a unit while having another selkected - and clicking slightly off mark making you old selected unit move towards that location.

This has killed many a swift halftrack and sherman in my time. Be weary!

And remember once your unit has been fired upon by the enemy the undo (red crossed circle icon) move does not work. *shudder*

Welcome to SPWAW - and the forum. Stick with the game it and it will reward you :)

I couldn't agree with Wild Bill's post more! SpWAW is in fact the only game of this type I ever really enjoyed!
