Enjoying the game greatly, but a problem has occurred,

I am running Scenario 6: Marianas (as opposed to Gingeras)
version 1.21 with AMD 2300 1GB RAM and XPSp1

I am in mid-late June and the game seems to consistently crash (no error, just kills the game) in the 2nd air operations phase. Rebooting the machine has not resolved the issue.

Thoughts?

Step #1:

Rename your SOUND directory to NOSOUND to rule out sound related issues.

Step #2:

Turn off Combat Animations to rule out a problem with the Artwork for a specific aircraft.

Step #3:

If neither of the above got you past it, you have a nice repeatable save which means it can be fixed!

Please post the results of the above tests.

changing to nosound resolved the issue. And I will (gladly) live without sound for the time being.

Wondering...is there a way 2 fix the same problem without removing the sound all 2gether? I have the same problem myself with scen 15 v1.21.

Go into the sound directory.

You'll see a bunch of .SFX files.

Double Click on one ... it will open a box asking you open with what?

Pick Microsoft Media Player.

It will play the sound clip.

Go through them all one by one, you will eventually find the one that killed you. PLEASE report the file name(s) of the ones that kill you.

Until a replacement is available, you can just rename those specific files to .BAK to get them out of the way.
