Anyone want to a copy of the new scenario I created? Here are some details:

By the conclusion of June 6, 1944, more than 150,000 enemy troops were ashore in Normandy. Supported by specialized armor as well as the unprecedented firepower of Allied air and naval units, the assault divisions of the invasion force had cleaved deep chunks from Hitler's vaunted Atlantic Wall. This scenario details the, 12 SS Panzer Division "Hitler Youth" baptism of fire against the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, 9th Brigade and 27th Canadian Armored Regiment, Sherbrooke Fusiliers in a counterattack in the area of the French town of Authie.

All details of the battle have been made as accurate as possible from the information I have in my possession, of which the book Blood and Honor, The History of the 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitler Youth," 1943-1945, written by Craig Luther, provided most of the data. Please report any historical inaccuracy to me as soon as possible. This scenario should be part I of a campaign I would like to complete chronicling the history of the 12th SS Panzer Division. The division was made up mostly of sixteen and seventeen year olds who were recruited from the Hitler Youth Class of 1926 (born in 1926). The Hitler Youth Division became a first-class formation of the Waffen-SS-it's special nature underscored by intimate ties to the super-elite Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler Division. Cadre personnel transferred from the Leibstandarte to the 12 SS Panzer Division provided the latter with an experienced nucleus and insured it would be imbued with the fighting qualities and élan of its sister division.

Hmmm,

My first impression was one of disappointment. This engagement is quite important and therefore the scenario should reflect details of history which this scenario sadly, does not.

I wanted to see more artillery, more infantry and a better map of the area.

Authie is not as depicted in the map. It should be a simple cross roads; a few houses; some wheat fields. Yes, those wheatfields that men crawled through while chased by German panzers all the while the MG42's scything the wheat above their heads...........

This should be a bitter, desperate struggle for the North Nova's. This scenario depicts a tank engagement devoid of any of the filth and horror of this battle.

Authie is a small place. The map is large enough to include surrounding towns, perhaps.

Sorry. Perhaps my info is incomplete. Please let's discuss this?

I thought I'd let everyone know that I have updated the Authie scenario.

I revamped the map to make it more like the actual terrian you would have encountered if you were fighting there in WW2.
I fixed some small errors on the map.
I moved the Canadian HQ unit since it was too close to the front lines in the first version.
I changed the force mix to make the Canadians a little more powerful.

Please email me at rrockw@yahoo.com if you would like a copy of of the new version.

How to deal with 150 mmslG33. It's too heavy to be loaded even on the heaviest tanks, although I'm certain in a real war they will drag it. Should it somehow be used for indirect fire? How?

Sorry, but I'm new in "these fields".

From the name one can guess that sig33's are siegeartillery. I consulted a military historian and he told, that they are so heavy they mostly were transported by train and with special means. Most probably they have been left there after some allied airattac.

Probably they are included in the scenario becouse later an attac appears from such direction that I can use these nice things. I'll see it, I just started playing HitlerJugend Panzer Division scenario. If others play it through in an hour, for me it lasts several dayes.

It is more of a gun than siege arty. Sounds as if some wires have got crossed a bit.

The 15cm sIG33 is a plain old Inf Gun, BIG, its not that heavy but you need to use a prime mover such as a sdkfz 7 or sdkfz 11. Also its on the end limits of a good old horse gun team.

Inf Guns are more 'line of sight'/direct fire, than acting as Hows. Don't mix the gun types.

... sig33's ...

And now I played it through. I concuered all of the flags except one supposing I had a victory but the program told the result to be a draw.
But it still remains unanswered what the sieg33's have to do in the scenario. They seem to be like some persons in detective stories, only to confuse the reader. I for ex. used a lot of time trying to move them.
Otherwise the scenario is fun to play. Anybody interested in PBEM either as german or as canadian?
