Was wandering through my computer the other day when it occurred to me that my WinAmp can create collectons of tunes from anywhere on my computer eh. That of course includes all the neat Steel Panthers sound effects. Just wondering, has anyone actually ever done this though? Win Amp allows you, through its interface, to select a complete directory to load into its playlist. Soooooo if you load the sound directory for the game, you can effectively sample any dang sound the game has to offer. Surely someone has thought of this. Seting this up is a no brainer (hey I was able to figure it out eh). Then when the list is there you can edit out the sounds that aint cool one at a time (while the game has hundreds of sounds, only some sound cool). After that you select shuffle and Winamp can fill your room with reeeeeeally cool background sounds indefinitely. Of course why do this is a logical question. I am suggesting it merely cause for years us board game types have thought it fun to play theme sounds in background of our games. This is the perfect way to get them.

Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Interesting perspective. One could only wish to have it set up in such a way that certain sounds during a board game could be played on cue to represent the effect of the game.

I've sort of done the same thing with my RealPlayer. So many of those martial tunes from the recent military music thread I have routed over to a music folder for play as the game goes on. I'm not sure if RealPLayer allows me to set up a queue where I can play an entire list without having to alt-tab out of the game to start another song. I've somewhat worked aorund that anyway, since I've been playing SPWW2 of late, and it won't play RealPlayer for very long like that or the game will lock up, so I've recorded my tunes over to a tape recorder for uninterrupted music. This thread does fascinate me, because it reminds me that somehow or other SPWAW wouldn't play the background battle tracks, or if it played them it would only do so along with the SP music (which I can only listen to so long). Now, with this threas spurring me on, I can record those background battle wavs and play them even during SPWW2.

I do this with Turtle Beach "Audio Station" - I have a playlist for just W@W sound files, about two dozen. I use these to test audio settings before I start the game. Works pretty nice and I can hear motorcycles and jet fighters any time I want - lovely dinner music, who was Mozart anyway? The funny thing, though, is that no matter how much reverb I use it doesn't seem to have much effect when the game starts accessing .wav files - the motorcycles sound like they're going thru the Holland Tunnel via the audio player, but not in the game. Is automatic echo cancelling going on here? I have heard of such things. My Santa Cruz says I can cancel this if I want, which I don't want to do and don't have it set to do that.

Eh? I already did that. Infact, I can give you guys the numbers of the good stuff, seperating out in-game and ambient sounds. 1001-1024 skipping 1022, 1021, and 1020. A few are repeats or longer versions of one track however. 20 tracks total, 45 minute run time.

Try sounds 93, 94 and 95 in the "snd" folder. Either this is a jet flying over, or a strange sounding toilet flushing. Bing
