This is a running joke amongst my friends. Around Christmas '98 I started hassling dudes in software shops to check their lists of upcoming releases.

"Nothing? Are you sure man? It's supposed to be coming out."

We could have fought the actual war in the time it's taken to develop this sucker

. Actually, after a few real-world distractions, cat attacks, vacuuming mishaps and drunken tumbles, playing board WiF could approximate a real-time wargame.
