Does anyone bother taking the non-base dots (beaches) in the game?

I thought them when Japan seemed to have all but three bases (Manila, Clark and Bataan) and I was going to get the last of my PBY's out of area. They were still USAAFE and when I hit transfer I saw like 8 bases listed. Threw me for a while till I figured out 5 of those were non-base beaches the Japs had never taken.....

I usually let them fall with the Auto capture feature now. I used them n UV as a tripwire. Sicne I owned them if they change color I know the enemy is there. Now I use them only if I am circumventing CDguns, like I am going to do for Kavenig.

I also let the auto capture take them. But some times I will land an invasion force via a non base hex (no dot). Helps cut off some enemy troops sometimes. Of course you should only do this when you are assured to capture a base. Because if you are forced to retreat, you can't. So you get destroyed.

If you have an adjacent enemy base next to one of yours and it is empty (no air or land units) it may auto convert to your control.

Kind of hit and miss. When your forces have dominance over an area, alot of those little undeveloped dots will start changing sides.

I have seen it occur in the PI area when I start taking it over. Sometimes a developed base will convert if it has no defenders. Seen that in Malaya.
