not sure if this should go in the Bug list or the OOB list

but we playing the 1945-46 campaign, and all the CV's coming into the game have too many planes on them, I think it is around 110 planes, and they got a cap of 90, so something has to be removed to be able to fly any planes

at the start of the game, all of my CVE's around PI had too many planes (the ones with Halsey Fleets, not the ones with Mac)

a couple of the CVs from those fleets also had too many planes on board

IIRC I am getting 36 Hellcats, 36 F4Us, 18 Helldivers and 18 TBMs

a real shocker when you get into your first airbattle, and nothing takes off

The air groups in 45 should be 36 Hellcats, 36 F4U's, 15 Helldivers, and 15 TBM's =102

Carriers can operate aircraft up to 115% capacity so an Essex with a capacity of 90 can fully operate up to 104 aircraft.

On the CVE's any carrier with a VR group can be overloaded, these are replacement aircraft for the other carriers while at sea but no VR group can fly combat operations.

Thanks for the reply
but
first off, yes I know about the replacement CVE's, I meant the combat ones

it is around 1-30-1945

the Wasp, has 36, 35, 18, 15 for 104 planes, it gets a replacement for the F4u, it will stop flying ?

the Ticonderoga has 36, 35, 18, 15 again for 104 planes, it gets the last F4u, it stops flying

I think what may be happening is the Helldivers are changeing over to a 18 plane squadron when it should be/stay a 15 plane one

I checked on the list of naval planes and I have a few Divers that have 18 planes (think I counted 11 of them), most have 15 (they have never left the CV)

HARD_Sarge

for the CVE's, they start the game in a aircraft transport fleet, and there by have more planes

Sarge,

what version are you playing with this scenario? Just want to be sure we are talking about the same version of the scenario files so I can check this out to make sure.

Hi Sarge,

As long as the groups stay under 104 total aircraft then they will fly, if you have one do me a favor and email me a save file that the carriers are over 104 AC.

pry-witp@houston.rr.com

Thanks

okay I went back and looked around at the at start numbers, the CV's I am talking about start with 102 planes on them, but the Helldivers start with 15, but are a size 18 squadron, when they get replacements, they have 105 planes

the CVE's at start are in a Aircraft transport fleet and have 48 planes on them, but they are VCF squadrons, not VR-F's

I had this problem when I first played Scenario #10 so have modified all my post 1943 CV upgrades to A/C capacity to 92 so the 105 CAGs will fly. On a test of Scenario #16 played AI vs AI out to 7/28/45 in version 1.21 it seems that the dive bomber squadrons will maintain their 15 plane limit. However the Shangri-La has a total of 130 A/C but that is because the 36, 36, 15, 15 A/C limit for the various squadrons at one time in 1944 allowed 43, 36, 33, 18 A/C limit and it hasn't been able to lose the extra A/C. All other CVs that had that problem in 1944 were able to get down to the 36, 36, 15, 15 A/C limit.

One other problem though is most of the Essex class CVs that start without a VBF on board will never acquire them and will operate with 36 F6Fs, 15 SB2Cs, and 15 TBMs for a total of 66 A/C in 1945 instead of the 102 that CVs that enter the game with the VBFs already on board.

Somewhat similar problem in same game is that British CV's will not replenish the Sortie Points. teh CVE's do it, al teh American Carriers do it, but the British CV's will not.

Thanks UB

okay that ship came into port yesterday as a reinforcement, at that time it had 36/36/15/15 and 102 planes, so it is fine, but the Diver squadron has a size of 18, but has 15 planes in it, once it gets reinforcements, it now has 105 planes

for what ever reason, the Helldivers still have a squadron size of 18, when they are on a CV that needs 15

what happens in the game, the ships are already out at sea, fly and fight a little, then when you either come back to port, or meet up with a Rep TF, they will gain too many planes and then stop flying

Hi Pry
well looks like this one could be strange

since we were talking about it, I was looking and waiting for it, so when the ship came in, I made a TF for it and then left it in port, and checked the units, VB-86 had 15 Divers, but was a size 18 squadron, then next day after sitting in harbor, the unit grew to 18 planes

then I disbanded the TF

when the next CV came in, I made a TF and got ready to go out to sea, I took a Diver squadron from the base VB-82 showed as haveing a 15 squadron size, so traded, now two days later, VB-86 sitting on land, is a size 15 squadron (from the snap, you can see it had 18)

which VB-82 was a 18 size squadron with 18 planes, which is why I pulled it

got a pic of VB-86 showing it as a size 15 squadron ?

Thanks mate

for the first, I had flown the P-40's to another base, and it was taking forever for the rest of the group to repair so I could send them over

so I loaded them onto a ship to sail them, next turn or so, I noticed that the FG didn't have any planes, went back looking and seen the rest of the FG was loaded onboard ship, nice surprise when I see how many were loaded

for the Diver from the other pic, you can see it had 18 planes, and the squadron size was 18, put it on the base and a day later or so, the size of the squadron has dropped back to 15 like it should be (if it stays on ship, it stays at 18)

Using patch 1.21
I've been playing the tutorial for some experiments.. i dunno if this allows for more leeway, but i had over 110 aircraft on the Lexington.

hi Popoi
yes, you can over load a CV, but where they flying ?

I think you can load up to 150% , but only up to 115% and still be able to fly

HARD_Sarge

that FG unloaded and has 157 planes in it, I am trying to fly plane out as they repair
