Factory/Research repair rates?

Can anyone tell me how fast factories and research facilities are supposed to repair?
Or if I've missed something re. repair of factories?

I thought it was something like :
1 point/day per factory OR
1 point/day per city

But, I've played a few days as the Japanese and it appears to be pretty random.


All the factories/cities below have 10,000+ supplies and have one or more factories to repair.
In 3 days the following number of factories/research centres repaired

Tokyo 2 points
Gumma 0 points - lot of stuff to repair here!
Maizuru 0 points
Kyoto 1 point
Toyama 0 point
Okayama 2 points

At this rate many aircraft will have finished research before the research factory has been built?
ie the Frank research factory that starts out at (320) x 0 will be (0) x 320 in about 1960 at this rate.
And my Oscar IIa factory starting at (119) x 0 won't be much better off as it hasn't moved either.

Each factory, facility will repair at the rate of 1 point per day if the following is met:

The city has over 10,000 supply in it
So if you have 3 damaged factories you want repaired you best have 13,000 supply there or it will not happan.

The farther out the a/c is in relation to the current date the harder it is to repair etc.
The big Frank factory will take awhile to repair, plus it may be random for research factories to repair, not sure. It definatly is not a constant 1000 per point per day even if you have the supply there.

In one of my PBEM games, I have been warching it and have kept a min of about 18,000 supply there since game start. It is now 1/18/42 and only 8 points have been repaired so far.

I have to agree.. Normal HI, plane factories (not in research) and other expandable factories should repair 1 point per day max provided you have sufficient supplies (10,000 + 1,000 per factory repaired). Research factories repair at a variable rate depending on how long until the plane is supposed to be in service.. I do not know the numbers nor for 100% if this is true, but it seems so as factories researching the later planes never repair much while those for the Oscars repair at a decent speed...

I have to agree.. Hmm so basically no one really knows how the research works?

After 5 days :

the Ki84 - Frank has gone from (320) x 0 to (319) x 1
(late model plane - no problem)

the Oscar IIa has stayed static at (119) x 0 despite there being 70,000+ supplies at Tokyo
(12 months to default intro at 1/1/1943)

At this rate the chances of me producing 100 Oscar IIa research points before 1/1/1943 seems low.
So any supply it does eventually consume through repair would be wasted. Or maybe it will all happen in a great rush?

I've converted one Nate factory to Oscar IIa research which also hasn't moved. So I'm thinking I would have been better of making Nates or just shutting down the factory and waiting for the Oscar IIa on 1/1/1943 and save myself the supplies?

More feedback appreciated.
