Dec 8th 1941 The Japanese struck east of Pearl. Hammering the fleet for the second straight day. Fleeing units barely missed the KB, I don’t know why strikes weren’t launched on these east bound units but I’m glad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Pearl Harbor , at 112,68 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 19 D3A Val x 100 B5N Kate x 123 Allied aircraft F4F-3 Wildcat x 1 P-26A x 2 P-36A Mohawk x 1 P-40B Tomahawk x 2 Japanese aircraft losses D3A Val: 15 destroyed, 33 damaged B5N Kate: 6 destroyed, 52 damaged Allied aircraft losses F4F-3 Wildcat: 2 destroyed P-26A: 2 destroyed P-36A Mohawk: 2 destroyed P-40B Tomahawk: 9 destroyed, 4 damaged B-17E Fortress: 4 destroyed, 7 damaged PBY Catalina: 2 destroyed B-18A Bolo: 1 destroyed, 3 damaged SBD Dauntless: 2 destroyed Allied Ships BB Oklahoma, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage CL Honolulu, Bomb hits 1, on fire ML Ogalala, Bomb hits 1, on fire, heavy damage BB Pennsylvania, Torpedo hits 1 DD Dewey, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage CL Helena, Bomb hits 2, on fire Allied ground losses: 86 casualties reported Guns lost 2 Repair Shipyard hits 3 Airbase hits 8 Airbase supply hits 1 Runway hits 54 Port hits 2 Port supply hits 1 Strange as it may sound but Pearl Harbor was not the most important action of the day. In Malaya Force Z departed Singapore to meet their destiny. Mersing was still under heavy attack by Japanese Surface forces.
