Been trying since the patches came out. Tried clicking on the link and "saving target as..." Both time out. I've never had problems downloading large files before, some many times larger than the 1.20 patch. Tried different browsers with the same results.

There's never any indication that the download has actually begun.

Looked through the recent support messages and don't see anything applicable there.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
PBYPilot

Perhaps the server has been down. I have been getting messages that the form was "not avialable" when I have tried to connect today. Could be an internet problem???

The server is slow and sometimes down. Try later.

Bumping the date on this thread as several of us are still having this download problem right now..IE is saying "site unavailable"(all day for the last 3 days),and when I use Firefox,WITP stops after 16% to 20% from Digital River..I have put notification in the "members area" twice but have not gotten a response since Wednesday.(?)

Grab them off the ftp site using a ftp program. You obviously have problems with your internet service provider running a proxy server between you and the internet. Everytime I see one of these posts, I jump on Matrix's server and start pulling the file and get over 100 k a second throughput. It's *not* their site.

Mr Frag,my generation did not even have computers at COLLEGE level,(let alone be an IT archetect),and I don't know what you mean by an FTP server,etc..I tried Internet explorer, and a 3rd party browser called Mozilla Firefox(which at least was allowing me to d'l'd to 16-20% before it would erroneously report it was "finished".
I also have Getright and Netleech, neither of which are recognized by Firefox..
I believe 2 months ago,I was able to download those updates using Firefox (before my recent harddrive explosion),but this is no longer the case..
"Everytime I see one of these posts"
Apparently you are used to seeing less knowledgable folk with computer problems, you might consider letting a more patient person try to help us,or understand our frustration possibly making us feel your comments demeaning?..........

The problem can be everywhere between your computer and our server, it might be a problem with your ISP, and oveloaded backbone, some contstrcution workers that snapped a cable, some thirdparty applications that limit file transfer etc. etc. It must not automatically be a problem with our server(s).

I for example download right now with 70kb/s from our pub FTP, just to test the server and the file availablity. No, I´m not directly connected or have special rights I login like everybody else

Yeah Marc,my traffic(when on Firefox) is smooth like yours)until it got to 16-20% and then it gave a wrong message that the file was complete..Of course it wasn't and instead left a package stating "corrupt zip file,etc"..
You(Marc) have helped me in the past when I usually have any problems and since I have lived in Germany,I gotta wonder,DO YOU EVER SLEEP????????
Can't afford a faster connection but I've been downloading for years with "GetRight",etc, just never had this kind of problem before in such a consistent manner..

FTP (or File Transfer Protocol) has been around a lot longer then this HTTP stuff.

Here is my favorate little FTP engine ...

http://stud.fh-heilbronn.de/~jdebis/leechftp/downloads.html

Install it and start it up.

Select File, Connect. A window will open. In the Host or URL field type ftp.matrixgames.com then click OK.

The display is split up into multiple panels.

The far right one is Matrix's server now, The middle one is Your hard drive.

Use the directory buttons to move yourself into pub then warinthepacific

once there, just drag the file you want from the right window to the middle window.

This supports resuming so it will just keep going until you have the file.

Mr Frag!!!..Thank you immensely!!!.I followed your great directions,(and I have no idea what I'm doing),but the numbers are just bouncing along into that middle box like nobodies business!!!..
We all have our own areas of competence, and the internals of the computer is not mine!!..Again,thank you...Bob

HUGE THANKS to MR Frag............I followed his directions and this morning the files were both downloaded!..I then opened the LeechFTP file in my "program files" and there were the downloaded files..I then opened each and have in 5 minutes updated WITP....
The amazing thing is,the LeechFTP system itself had reported the site had closed(timed out),and yet LeechFTP just kept truckin' like nothing had happened!..Amazing!!

Yep, thats *why* I keep LeachFTP around ... it is stubborn. It doesn't care what happens, it just keeps on going and going and going ...
