We are playing the Castle Hill scenario by e-mail, I am German. In the beginning (and still at this point) I have no idea what the US forces consist of, I see almost none of them. I have quite a lot of artillery, both on- and off-board. When I blindly fire my 150 mm artillery at the supposed enemy positions, whenever it causes any damage, I can read the message "1 casualty" in the scrolling text at the bottom (also in F5). Sometimes I even get "...survivors disperse" message. But I don't even see those units, how can I get this information just by dropping artillery at them?? Of course when I don't get any of those messages, then I shift the artillery at some other point. And what is the worst, my opponent does not get this information, when he views the replay he sometimes sees the bombing but he has to manually check what of his units got hit.

You get that information because its a limitation of the game engine. Fire arty in an area that you cannot see and mine icons will appear if there are any to be seen, etc. I trust that this will be changed in CL.

Just read in one of my books about a mortar squad firing blind and correcting aim points by the screams of the wounded (enemy hopefully).

I ran into this as well, but I'm the one not getting the information. As near as I can tell, it is because one of you have Fast Art on and the other doesn't. If you have fast art on, then your opponant gets a fast message, but doesn't see the shells landing .. so he has to go see where the new smoke clouds are. The opponant seems to get my shelling at the beginning of his turn, but I only get the details at the end of mine -- the start of turn art doesn't show. As far as getting the details of the damage you're doing ... somethings ya just gotta live with.
